The iPhone AAC Bluetooth codec would be the bottleneck here. You should notice a slight difference when using a jack, depending on the song. Under critical listening, you might notice some extra clarity. So am I right in saying this is pointless to use on an iPhone with bluetooth B&O headphones but it is worth doing on my MacBook Pro if I use a jack cable?
Probably also pointless on my Dennon AV AMP as I doubt that supports it via the built in Spotify app.
Your Denon should support it if it’s fairly recent , my 4800 doesSo am I right in saying this is pointless to use on an iPhone with bluetooth B&O headphones but it is worth doing on my MacBook Pro if I use a jack cable?

Mine is from 2022. It doesn’t appear to support it at the moment but I’ve got my fingers crossed as it appears they’re still rolling out firmware updates.Your Denon should support it if it’s fairly recent , my 4800 does

To be honest unless I'm specifically listening to a tune I don't really notice the difference between very high and any of the lossless services including Spotify.
Yeah I think there is a difference, but very subtle. Track dependant as well. I do like to think I have a good ear, especially being musical (play guitar) so I pickup a lot of stuff by listening. The kit I use is good quality too which helps. But if you are not paying attention then yeah, not really noticeable. I've left it on for now just because it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing it is set as high as possible haha.![]()
Hah yes! My last hearing test they said I had a very slight dip near the top end. He turned around and said to me "listen to any loud music". lol.Exactly the same here. We musicians apparently do tend to have better hearing if we haven't destroyed it with constant excessively loud music! (My audiologist said mine was the best hearing he'd tested in over 20 years!)
I can hear the difference but I'm listening through decent equipment - streaming over WiFi to my Denon X6700H or Sennheisser headphones. It's nowhere as big as going from ~128kbps to 320kbps but it is there.
