Funny enough that was the one I was looking at as the discount makes it a good buy would be the 55 inch.. Is it a good tv as I been reading reviews that Sony and Samsungs are better IQ now?

IIRC those LG's are the go too on here. Most people use the 42" as monitors and wall mount them. So you can really loose if you go for a bigger one, they're pretty much tried and tested.

depends how much budget, the TV enthusiasts ( from what i know anyway ) are tending to buy 65 inch LG G5 or Sony Bravia 8 ii or Panasonic Z95B

Thank you so they must have very good quality then as I say I had LG for 9 or so years Oled but it just started to show some burns think cos daughter left screen on you tube menu by accident bless her.

Wife wouldn't let me fit a 65 inch as she think it too big she think the 55 in the sweet spot

Take her to a local shop (preface it as going out to do something else :p) and show her the screen sizes, I think many have difficulty perceiving the differences in screen sizes, your current tv being a decade old likely means it has big ass bezels too which aren't there for current models.

You can get the Panasonic TV-65Z80AEY 65" + a £300 soundbar right now for a grand and it would be leaps and bounds better than what you have, much better audio than stock too or some cash back if you sell it on or use it as a Christmas pressie or something.

You're welcome dude, I don't own one, but I have been very tempted, and whenever I ask those that know OLED's on here, I'm always recommended one of these, so I can't take the credit :P But those guys seem to know their stuff!

The 42" would be fine IMO, and may even be better in the size of room you have.

In terms of enjoying a TV even in a medium sized room, I'd rather go without than drop down to 42" and at that point I'd say spend £300-500 on a modern mini-led/fald setup because you're sitting too far away to genuinely benefit anyway.

Awkward room size to be sure but spending £1100 on a tiny TV would leave a sour taste in my mouth, you're not using it in the nearfield as a monitor you're using it as a TV while presumably sat across the room on a couch.

Give this a gander.

I should have also asked what was mainly going to be viewed on the TV, some do things better than others. If the OP is mainly watching soaps and reality TV you'd need to be barmy to spend £1100 on a 42" TV (or any sort of OLED imo).

lol at tiny

Each to their own but I have a 42" TV and it's fine.

What size is your room, how far away are you from it, and what do you tend to watch or do with it?

Are you invested in 4K content? If you're not you're spending a lot of pointless money on high end 4K TV's.

My TV is a quite old Panasonic and it's HD, but that's OK, because I don't really watch TV anymore!

I guess a bigger screen is nice for 4K content, and 4K is maybe not worth it if you only get a 42" as I find HD quite adequate.
