New Oled TV

My TV is a quite old Panasonic and it's HD, but that's OK, because I don't really watch TV anymore!

I guess a bigger screen is nice for 4K content, and 4K is maybe not worth it if you only get a 42" as I find HD quite adequate.

That makes sense.

I'm not attacking you or anything so please don't assume that I am. Once you go up a size it's extremely difficult to downsize and readjust, and with a high end 4K OLED I would assume that the person wanted to view movies or shows which showcased that sort of thing. There's also the value perspective, even on the lower end 42" TV's are really poor cost wise because many have moved to larger models so there's less demand. There's even been a few instances where a 42" of the same model cost the same or more as a 55" or worse 65".

It's a ton of money to spend for basic use so matching your use-case with your TV is important unless the person buying simply doesn't care about money.

As I mentioned, take her to a Curry's or something to show her the size differences in modern screens. They're nowhere near as large for the actual screen size compared to a decade ago.

I've seen 50" Plasma TV's roughly on par with a modern 65" tv in terms of size.

As his existing screen is an LG OLED from circa 2016, it'll probably be something like a B6/E6 which already has very thin bezels, a new 65" will be noticeably bigger

Yes you’re right at least someone read my messages. Thank you

As said my tv is oled now very thin and thin bezel so a new 55 be the same size at least. 65 will deffo be noticeable

LG 55G5 seems to be available for £1599 easily enough, which would probably be my pick for that size / budget, Samsung QE55S95F definitely worth considering at £1799 too.

Sony Bravia II or Samsung S95F are the way to go
The Sony I love but the legs are at the end of the tv so won't fit on our tv cabinet the legs need to be a bit further in. I seen some TV where you can have them at end or a bit further in though it ws the sony

Will these outperform the LG in what ways pls

Yet both hdtv test and value electronics shootouts score the Sony and Samsung better

Just a question of whether they're a few hundred quid better really.

When you're shopping in this market, it's hard to pick a bad TV.
Pretty much, don’t get me wrong I think the LG G5, Samsung S95F or the Sony Bravia III are all excellent choices, if your a heavy gamer the LG and Samsung is an excellent choice, if you have a bright, light filed living room the S95F is an amazing choice because of the matte screen(i have the 77S95D) and the Sony is top of the tree for processing and cinematic effect.
