My TV is a quite old Panasonic and it's HD, but that's OK, because I don't really watch TV anymore!
I guess a bigger screen is nice for 4K content, and 4K is maybe not worth it if you only get a 42" as I find HD quite adequate.
That makes sense.
I'm not attacking you or anything so please don't assume that I am. Once you go up a size it's extremely difficult to downsize and readjust, and with a high end 4K OLED I would assume that the person wanted to view movies or shows which showcased that sort of thing. There's also the value perspective, even on the lower end 42" TV's are really poor cost wise because many have moved to larger models so there's less demand. There's even been a few instances where a 42" of the same model cost the same or more as a 55" or worse 65".
It's a ton of money to spend for basic use so matching your use-case with your TV is important unless the person buying simply doesn't care about money.
