50% Game pass increase incoming!

I think a of of this has to do with losing the console war, this console gen being complete ass in general and M$ saying.

"I want my $75BN back"

Everyone knew at the time this was bad for gaming and a bad deal for M$, Blizzard for example has been trending down for 15 years, it's a husk, and XBOX just couldn't handle everything they bought anyway, and I suspect they planned all along to shutter half the studios just to kill competition, their dream will be everyone playing a dozen or so live service slop games, like COD, on GP subscription, for ever more - with ads.

$1000 for a handheld tiny screen?

The numbers Microsoft have released explain the price increase for gamepass

Gamepass profit is currently $500 million per year

black ops 6 lost $300 million profit due to gamepass

Ergo, Microsoft now wants $300 million more profit from gamepass, hence the 50% price hike

The massive gamepass price hike is to pay for the loss of profit for Call of Duty. What a ******** especially if you're a gamer who doesn't even play CoD
I think the last CoD I played was 4 and that was only single player.

I’ve not had Gamepass in a while anyway I only ever got it when buying new hardware and found after playing one or two games I just didn’t touch it after that.

Has anyone else not had any contact from Xbox about the price increase? I only got an email saying what new benefits there were, but nothing mentioned about the price.

I've never used this service. I despise subscriptions as it's guaranteed that features and content will be stripped away while prices are hiked.
Good riddance to it. It's a dream, but wouldn't it be nice if this served to slow further monopolisation.

I'll continue to seek a cheaper rate elsewhere, I currently sign more store account in as one in India, then sign my gamepass as normal as it gets the ultimate benefits however things like Battle net, EA, UBISOFT don't work unfortunately.

My subscription expires April next year and I doubt I'll renew. There's a few games I regularly play on the platform but I think I'll just buy them outright now they have been out a while and can be picked up cheaper. One thing I noticed having so many games available I found myself switching to another game before I spent enough time to get into what I was playing.

I have this issue too.

Another issue is that does game pass save your saves for each game you play locally or to their platform?

I bet they are not saved locally so if you buy the game from Steam your stuck starting over again, I guess this is another way for them to keep you on game pass.

Saves tend to be local but depending on how the game is packaged it may be not be possible to copy the save files to the Steam based version. The biggest challenge is finding where the files are stored.

Quite a hike but I guess people in suits at HQ have already calculated that more than enough gamers will pay up
They are going to force cloud gaming. That's why.

With cloud gaming they can control everything mate and rinse everyone left right and center whilst eradicate piracy as the next halo and Forza will be cloud only.

Just added 3 months of Ultimate for 33.50 which takes me to end of March but then I might be done with it and will concentrate on backlog

Just paid my October fee for the same £9.99. But it did make me think long and hard about what I get for that money. Now cancelled.
