I can recommend HLINK waterproofs, recently got some and they fit well and are properly waterproof.

Took my Powakaddy CT6 for a spin last weekend, have used a Clicgear push trolley for years, but felt way easier either way an electric especially in the hills, shoulders didn’t ache as much either during the round.

I've got ProQuip trousers which work a treat, only ones I've found that do a truly long leg option at 36 inseam. Got a Sunderland of Scotland jacket on the way which should fix my coat issue hopefully.

I do need a new trolley at some point, I've got a ProRider leccy trolley atm but it's falling apart and outside warranty. For now I'm just carrying, especially through winter, but bugger me the trolley is so much nicer and easier on the back.

Went to carus driving range this morning, 3 wood was consistent off the t however just kept going a bit to the right, no slice just sets off that way. Not sure what's average as don't normally see stats but ball speed topped out at 136 with 123mph average with average total distance of 193 yards.
I'm sure I used to be able get around 240wirh a 5 wood when I played
Averaged 130 carry and total 144 with 7 iron.

Had one shot with my lads slazenger driver with I got over 230 yards out off.

Nice having the stats so I can track progress. They had a Taylor made qi35 5 wood for 229 I was tempted by but the demo one was in use. They sell some cheaper older drivers they can still do fitting on, mizuno for 199 or the new st max for 299

Think I may have won the club comp today with a 42/38 round of 80 (nett 73)

2 double bogeys on the front 9 were frustrating but according to the computer, my course handicap of 8 gave me a playing handicap of 7, but at 95% that works out to 7.6 which should still be 8?

Either way, my 73 looks like it will win on countback against another couple of 73's so I will be happy if that is the case

So played over the weekend as usual even with Storm Amy making things a bit interesting :p

Friday - Worst weather, played very average/poor but good to the out at least, did get a few holes of heavy rain but mostly dry actually and a touch windy.
Saturday - No rain but very windy! Front 9 was the monthly medal which have now dropped to 9 holes, shot a 41 gross, net 33. Back 9 was just for fun and didn't play as well but also went for a few more aggressive shots I'd never try in a medal so mixed.
Sunday - Best weather of the weekend, worst playing partners :p Played Bristol and got annoyed by the guy that always annoys me, especially towards the end, tolerance up and he was playing badly so got even more selfish and annoying.

Still just annoyingly inconsistent. Last hole on Sunday was a tough par 5, SI 1, hit a lovely drive into the wind dead straight and 225 yards which is solid for me (was driving pretty well throughout really) then followed that up with a very good 5w for my second 206 yards over the first lake, glorious. Then I'm 90 yards out, easy right. Nope. Thin my approach over the back, thin my chip onto the green, then at least a good 2-putt (long first one to around 2ft) for a dissapointing bogey.

But I'd also had holes with good approaches/chips, and others where I was poor off the tee etc, so it's not a short game issue, it's just general consistency. Argh :p

In other news, that medal I mentioned on Saturday? Looks like I won it \o/ 3rd comp win of the year, yet more vouchers for Callaway stuff I don't really want...

A net 73 wins a comp. Wow. Well done and all, but I've never seen a comp won above par. Suppose it's nearly winter.
I did win the comp yesterday after the last few scores came in didn't beat mine

The weather yesterday was tough as the wind was up and it made for tough club selection - early in the round I flushed my 190yd club and it only went 150yds, so I had to quickly rethink the clubs after that in the wind and it would appear I did that better than the rest of the field

Looking on MyEG this morning I saw that my round also had a PCC adjustment of 3, so that shows how tough it was

I've finally got round to getting myself and the kids some clubs to take up the Driving Range for a few sessions, Totally new to it and we have a lot to learn, Has anyone taught their kids before? I'm finding it difficult to teach as I'm new Myself, We've been to the ranges twice in the last week or so and they're now wanting to hit the Air balls in the garden to practice bless them ...

Any tips or information would be appreciated

1. Make it fun for the kids, thats the most important thing.
2. Get lessons booked ASAP. Don't let bad habits creep in. Try and book a block of 5/6/10 or something, use the first half and then find a local 9 hole course, and put what you're learning in your lessons as much as possible. Have the other lessons every 2 weeks or every month, so that you can go to the lesson with your "Issues" (Ball always goes left or right, this part hurts, I can't do this etc) and actually work on those issues rather than just doing lessons for the sake of it.
3. Prepare you bank balance :p

We went to Bassett Down Golf club for a driving range session and they have interactive ranges with tracer and games etc so the kids enjoyed trying them out, I'll definitely get us booked on lessons for sure as were going to need it :p

I have noticed with my shots the majority go off to the left so I'm obviously doing something wrong, I've managed to pick up some nice cheap clubs for the kids and I currently only have a Taylor made 7 iron for the range

Check your grip, is too tight? Try half shots to begin with i.e. 3 - 9 on the clock face.

Just enjoy it man, it's a STUPID game that's so so hard.

You'll never be as good as you want to be unless you have unlimited time and unlimited money, so just enjoy time with the kids :D

Yeah I'll never be any good at it, we do enjoy our time at the ranges, Kids were happy they hit around 42 yards bless them

Sad as it sounds read some info last week on LIV Golf's recent financials. 2024

It's mental...

On it's overseas events (i.e everything outside of the USA) - revenue was $65 million in....

Then $527 million in expenses/outgoings...

So spending $8.50 for every $1 of earnings....

The U.K. arm of the league — which runs half of its 14-event season — suffered losses of $461,808,000 for the calendar year 2024. This came after losses of $395,944,000 in 2023 and $243,737,000 in 2022. All together that amounts to more than $1.1 billion in losses since the league’s inception, strictly from its international business.

That doesn't even cover any of the USA events or financials....

I don't think they care about a billion quid when they're intake is somewhere in the trillions. I really don't understand how they assume that Sports are going to make people see them as any different but they seem to think it will.

Start with the grip and go from there. Rick Shiels (talking of LIV!) has some good introductory videos:

Had my networking meeting at Cumberwell Park today and actually managed to play well, for (almost) the whole 18 holes!!!

Dunno what's changed but just able to strike the ball properly and consistently again, it was glorious.

Did have one mess of a hole where I got a 6 on a par 3 for nil point, chunked the tee shot, thinned the second, left my chip way short and then 3 putt, quality golf.

But also had 2 birdies, 1-putt goodness so it evens out a bit.

+12 gross, 42 points. Came third   Winner had 44, second had 43.

Still, shouldn't complain, I actually played golf for what feels like the first time in months

I had to give golf up. Over time my swing was getting shorter and shorter. My drives were getting shorter. I noticed I was having to go up 2 irons to get the same distances. And I was in so much pain for about 3 or 4 days after a round. I couldn't walk a whole round so had to hire buggies which worked out too expensive. Shame but it is what it is.
