Hi all,
Just bought a 5090(!) and want to get a 4K screen to go with it. Ive heard good things about the LG C5 42 inch, my only concern is how it would display a desktop i.e. text. Is it a compromise compared to a standard PC monitor or is it just as good? Open to any suggestions on others monitors/TVs as well.
Many thanks
I think it should be fine, I use an LG G4 55" and haven't noticed anything untoward, when initially installed text was a bit on the ropey side and I was worried I had made a big expensive mistake but with some tuning and adjustment I am happy, of course at my size the aliasing is a bit more noticeable, could really do with a resolution step between 4k and 8k for large screens.
Sitting here with my laptop with IPS LCD next to my TV I would not say there is a great deal of difference in the text apart from the mentioned aliasing/crispness difference a tight PPI gives on a 16" 2.5k vs 55" 4K OLED screen.
My screen is about 1m away, 55" is a bit on the big side and felt weird initially like the edges bent outward but I had a 43" curved previously and so it took some adjustment, now it seems normal, HDR gaming is lovely on it and my first screen with VRR, this is a game changer, games feel so good (though of course a 5080 and a zen5 x3d could be contributory to that but my last system wasn't rubbish)
I do CAD work on it most days and it has not been a problem at all, loads of text based context tabs etc and all text is fine, tuning and getting good colour was time consuming, game optimiser mode seem to help with that, I guess it must bypass some processing.
