I felt like that with Cronos: The New Dawn, but saw it through and then it did end up having some good bits at the end that made it worth it, I guess.

I have similar feelings so far and I'm also in the school.
As a horror it's lacking.
The enemy reveals and tutorial / objective hints also seem intrusive and take me right out of it too. I had this concern from the initial trailer with the demon girl and it has turned out to be the case with everything so far in the game.
Hopefully the story has something going for it, but I think the execution is just a bit off to hit the right buttons for me.

Only once in my life have I snapped a playstation disc in two out of anger, in order stop myself from ever being tempted to go back to a complete and utter piece of BS.

Will make note of weak hero. Anything else that's superb?
South Korean shows hit hard tbh, there's a few out there.
Kingdom and All of us are Dead stand out, I really enjoyed Uncanny Counter too.
All from the above are top notch really, can't go wrong if you like well acted, well directed shows.

How do you guys find time to watch so much TV and game?
I think what eats up a lot of my free time is the gym.
5pm - 8pm I'm busy traveling too and from, training, shower and dinner.
Leaves 4hrs free time a day. Of which I try to game from 8 - 10pm if I can. Leaves only 2hrs a day for anything else.

I walk to the gym so can fit in an episode on the walk there and then back unless gym cat is on my route in which case I walk with my gym cat lol.
Otherwise I watch stuff whilst multitasking throughout the evening whether working on articles or editing or photographing stuff, a screen is always playing something.

Well, I'm done.
Deleted the game and my save file to prevent me from being tempted going back to this trash.
The late game is one of the worst piles of garbage I have experienced in quite a while.
A darn shame after the pleasantly ok beginning.
Still, the game is pretty new and I know for a fact I can sell it for 80% of what I paid, so... Ghost of Yotei here I come

Because after cooling off for a few hours, you start thinking... maybe that bit wasn't as bad as I thought.... maybe I was just off my game... maybe I'll try that section just one more time.
Then you go back...
