Oh, interesting not seen them running cable locally then. Must be trying to get interest to see which streets are worth it.

Just had an email that I have an appointment tomorrow between 1 and 6. Presumably this will be the new router install and to upgrade the line to 2gb. Just as well I'm already working from home that day as I've had no prior contact from YouFibre over when this was happening.
My router and ONT have also been changed this morning. I have nothing that supports this on the wire (yet). But the wireless speeds are very good.![]()
The economies work both ways. If the router for You2000 is 10G it'd make more sense to install the ONTs at 10G (as some are) as well. They already have You8000 (10G) and are testing 50G. It won't be long before they're offering 10 and 25G as standard packages with a budget 1G option, I reckon. Once the 50G-PON stuff is standard, and with their 800G ROADM backend the sky's the limit. I really like where Netomnia/YouFibre is going. They could be the UK's answer to Init7 if they just sort out the level 1 tech/CS side.Took a couple of goes but moving to 2Gbps aswell, this seems to be a very popular offer wonder if they will reconsider the normal price for 2Gbps going forward. Minimal extra cost to them over the other packages as they are installing the 2.5Gbps ONTs and routers as standard so could going forward bump any new customers to You2000 with no hardware costs if they didn't upgrade customers to the 10Gbps router they currently offer for You2000
Well I'm now on the 2gb line but don't have any devices that have a 2.5 NIC or are wifi 7 ha.
Yeah first line aren't very good, unfortunately. Once you get to the higher ups they're excellent (Netomnia side, for sure) but you're at the mercy of outsourcing initially. The one downside of YouFibre, but you do get there in the end usually. Definitely get your own router sorted, but their Hub Pro or whatever surely has dhcp settings, even if more 'advanced' stuff is locked down?I've been trying to get my head around the router they've provided till I source my own. I have a Nvidia Shield that has picked up an IP inside the DHCP range which I don't want it to be. Tried to change it via the OS but it won't save the change for some reason. Thought I'd just do it via the router instead but I just can't seem to find where to do it. Live chat were just useless.
I've sorted it. Clearly I'm just an idiot as found the option under the LAN section which I thought I'd checked

They're mistaken. Log into 'My YouFibre' instead of using live chat, and open a ticket. State you wish it to be handled as a complaint (i.e. have it escalated to someone on-shore with a brain), and point out their own T&Cs on the website:I contacted support to ask if they could upgrade me to 2Gb but they refused because I'm an existing customer. I offered to sign a new contract as well.
They've ignored me now because I said it's terrible that existing, loyal customers get nothing and I want to put in a complaint. They've ignored me for 2 days now.
It's not just them, no company ever seems to care about existing customers and offer the best deals to new customers only![]()
YouFibre said:Advertised prices are applicable during the promotional period described below for residential packages ordered by (i) new YouFibre customers, (ii) existing YouFibre customers renewing their contract at the end of their current term, or (iii) existing YouFibre customers upgrading their current speed (subject to availability for upgrades to the 2GB services) and signing up for a new 18-month contract term.
Oh wow! Thank you for that. That's brilliant. One of the most helpful replies I've ever hadThey're mistaken. Log into 'My YouFibre' instead of using live chat, and open a ticket. As long as you're not already on the 2000 package you qualify under clause iii. The first level CS are just crap.
