WD SN7100 works perfectly in mine and not had any heat issues, went for the 2TB version as it was a decent price and whilst the case is warm it doing its job as i have no stability or other issues with it. My other drive is a 1TB SN850 works perfectly, not quite as quick but very good still and more than enough to run multiple VMs at the same time

I almost pulled the trigger but held back as there is a prime day(s) next week.
Thanks, just ordered this for £48.

Need something quick I can transfer between my M4 Mac Studio and M4 Macbook Air plus watch videos while Im travelling with my iPad.

Only need to find a decent NVMe to drop inside it.
Where did you see this for 48 sheets?

I'm hopeful for a dip with either the Crucial T500 or SN850x (both 4tb). I know both are "overqualified" for the enclosure.

Italian version of Jeff Bezos place but I am in mainland Europe. Slightly cheaper for me to import due to less tax here.

*sighs*

So connected this UGREEN enclosure, with sn850x, to the mac and nothing. Enclosure light comes on but nothing in Finder / Disk Utility. Tried connecting to my Windows 11 and it detects USB4 enclosure but not the SSD, and complains that PC may not support it.

I'll try to test the SSD by plugging it in to my PS5Pro, but slightly reluctant as I do not have a heatsink for it.

e: PS5Pro recognises the SSD and formatted it successfully to 4tb.

Assume you are using one of the rear ports and the supplied cable?

Aye, tried all ports, front and back. The ports work as far as I can tell as I've plugged my ipad in to a back port and it detects that no issue.

e: actually that's untrue. I've only plugged stuff in to the usb-a sockets. Hmm, now I need to test the studios usc-c back ports somehow.
e2: plugged ipad with with supplied enclosure cable and mac detects it in finder.
e3: initiated a return. Ho hum.

You have checked any apple permissions that might be set? Auto mount or whatever its called enabled? Something on those line would be my guess

It mounts my ipad and sdxc card without any intervention.
e: just tested with a Samsung T7, via back usb-c, and finder detected the drive and wants to initialise it.

e2: Dunno whether to chance ordering the same drive or go for something else.

Could be a duff enclosure or drive. I'd be inclined to lean more toward the enclosure than drive, I've bought more NVMe drives than I care to admit and I've never had one DOA.

If its from retailer with a generous returns policy, I would order another one and go from there.

Yep, the ssd is detected and works in the PS5pro.

Already done and ordered a slightly different model. We shall see.

Sounds like the cable or enclosure, I've had so many of these things, the one that was linked to was the only one I've had that worked straight off and without issues.

Have you tried an alterntive USB-C cable just to see if its detected or an USB-A to USB-C?

Got my UGREEN enclosure on Tuesday, dropped an cheap Intel 512 nvme in there. Formatted on Linux, transferred over a few 4K videos.

Works fine on my Macbook Air, iPad Pro M2, iPad mini and Mac Studio.

Im very happy with it :)

Aye. Tried differed cables, ports, computers. No joy. It's been dropped off now for collection. New enclosure arrives tomorrow; fingers crossed,
