**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Got a set of Pirelli Cinturato P7 for my B9 Audi Allroad. Rim protection is very clearly worse than the Uniroyal RainSport 5 they're replacing but they definitely seem quieter and less...squishy feeling? Waiting for the first icy day to see how they really perform.

P7s are pretty good, but not amazing, Would've gone for Conti or Michelin personally but if you got them for a good price then they should serve you well.

This article swayed my decision pretty heavily. The Goodyears, Michelins and Contis were all noticeably more expensive so maybe I did get a good price?

Main issue I've heard about Pirelli lately is quality control - which is usually fairly obvious from the first drive of any distance.

The only thing I can fault Conti for really is the tyre lifespan could be better, but any of the recent ones I've experience of are very good for driving on.

Had new SC7 on my A45s. The grip from the SC6 was great but you have a lot more feedback with the 7s. Please ignore the dirty wheel :)

i3S rears have run down again in around 10,000 miles as expected. Another £400 due to idiotic sizing and a choice between a ****, expensive Bridgestone, and another ****, but slightly more expensive, Bridgestone.

10k? That's nuts. I'm assuming you've checked alignment etc? Go get some aftermarket wheels with a more common size. They'll probably pay themselves off pretty quickly

Only ~6mm from new. I drive like a tool. i3S is well-known to chew through tyres. I can't deviate from homologated tyres where I live otherwise it's an MOT fail, etc.

With 270nm torque? Is it some odd factory alignment to improve handling?

I had an issue with a pair of Pirelli P Zeros a couple of years ago on my Porsche 996, they were two years old (from original fitting date) and the tread was delaminating from the carcass. There was quite a big split that you could open up when flexing the tyre (after it was removed from the rim). The fitters returned the tyres to Pirelli under warranty and eventually I got a report from their engineer (obviously completely biased) saying there was nothing wrong with the construction of the tyre and it had been caused by UV damage. They refused to offer me any compensation, discount or replacement.

The tyre fitter came good and supplied me a pair of tyres of my choice in recompense at their own expense.

I've vowed ever since to never purchase Pirelli tyres in future. I've been on a couple of advanced driving days / track day training, and most instructors have also had bad things to say about Pirelli tyres. They always been known as ditch-finders on one particular car forum I frequent.

They got replaced with a pair of Michelin PS4 and have been fine ever since with no signs of deterioration.

I have Pirelli on the M240 and whilst I had similar thoughts, due to past experience with Pirelli, dare I say... these have been fine. I still wouldn't recommend Pirelli to my friends or family.

....Heard the new contact sport 7's are meant to be incredible.

I've put a set of SC7 on my M440i back in March 2024 when I brought it Done nearly 17k with them now & rears are down to 3.4mm, fronts 3.8mm
Wearing pretty even & I've been very happy with the grip & feel of them.

Will need replacements next year for MOT, but undecided whether to stay with them or go for a set of Michelins, either MP4S or MP5
Had MP4S * tyres on my old 435D which were good & lasted around 20K. Michelins are considerably more expensive though, mmmm decisions!

Wow. that's decent wear. My old SC6's only lasted 9k miles of hard driving before I had to change to the SC7's

A bit of a silly question, but how often do Blackcircles run the 15% discount offers on Michelin tyres?

They’re currently offering a cracking price on a set of CrossClimate 3 Sports, but my current summers still have life in them. Would be nice to have all seasons for winter though.

Can't give you a quantitive answer but I've seen the discount offer there more often than not when shopping for tyres - which between browsing and purchasing I do a fair bit.
