Very poor finale, but it's in keeping with the season which was sub-standard in the extreme. Some of the Earth-X stuff was decent (as is Cena in general), specifically around the brother and father, but it was extremely slim pickings in a season that hopefully showed the audience how full of it Gunn does be.
Nothing of note occurred duing the season as a whole and in a show near full of eminently unlikeable characters, it turns it very much into a real slog. After the first couple of episodes of this I was questioning my enjoyment of the first season as perhaps some kind of late Covid-fever, wondering if it really was any use at all as I never revisited it.
Gunn can be juvenile to a detriment, as we already witnessed this summer, but it's in full flow here with this with some of the writing, dialogue and creative choices just borderline excrutiating. Overall, no problem with no continuation as there's nothing to salvage, but obviously Gunn and co will be revisiting things and characters with their DC universe, so set your expectations accordingly.
