The rise of Ozempic

Holy smokes, there's a lot of variation in pricing!!!! Is it OK to order it from places you've never heard of? Its it like a packaged product the same everywhere or could the dodgy outlets lace it with stuff?!
it's a packaged product, so it's the same wherever you buy it from (as long as it's genuine and not back alley stuff)
all of the pharmacies listed on monj are GPhC regulated so the odds of them selling dodge stuff is miniscule

That’s great to know. I’d never have even thought of a price comparison for drugs let’s hope Im not staying on it long enough to get through that whole list!

Well, my Wife beat me to "under 13 stone" - she's now 12st 10lb, whilst I seem to have plateaued at 13st 3lb...

I'm not too miffed; she's a lot more active and had been getting a little demotivated by seeing my faster weight loss at the start. Really proud of her.

Out of interest, and I'm not being an arse, but why are you proud of her? I have been on Mounjaro since May, and I have nearly lost 4 stone. I literally take no satisfaction from anyone, including the wife, saying well done to me as I haven't done anything, the meds have.

Oooooof!

I 100% disagree with your thinking here. If people continue to eat and have the lifestyle they used to have, you will not lose weight. For you to have lost 4 stone in 5 months, you have made some changes.

The jabs don't make you magically lose weight.

Oh and well done on a great loss - proud of ya!

Thats approx 7000Calories over your maintenance.. Its water weight and the need for a decent dump

Gym Sat and Sun. Sun was no breakfast, lunch: Chippy chips, evening meal: slimming world bacon carbonara. Even walked the dog on the beach.

So to have put on 2lbs was disheartening. But yeah, probably need a decent poop

Weigh in day today However, went to the coast yesterday and had some chippy chips - put on 2lbs. FFS!

There is way you gained 1kg in one day, you've been eating excess calories for a while then. As someone above mentioned, to gain 1kg in a day you'd need to eat an addition 7000 to 8000 calories on top of your usual intake

I actually think weight loss is easier than gain, at least in the short term because its easier for the body to handle a large calorie deficit and excess. If I tried to eat 8000 calories I'd be throwing up

I'm hardly eating at all, which is why i didn't feel too bad having a chip shop chip butty treat. I'm good, just messing - i'll weigh again tomorrow.

I dipped into the 15st territory earlier that week, so was hoping on official weigh in day, i could be in the 15's, that's what i'm more ****** at!

Eh? I am forced to change what I do because of the meds; no one is going to take the injection and manage to continue eating like they do!

That's not true apparently. Relative is a diabetes nurse and claims it's not uncommon for her patients to lose very little weight on Mounjaro. There seems to be a big difference between being on it and wanting to lose weight and being on it and not caring. If you want to it makes it much easier, but you have to want to. There's also obviously a big difference between being on it and becoming skinny fat and being on it and having a good training program and getting into good shape and physique.

It makes it easier to lose weight by nullifying cravings and making you feel fuller for longer. So it’s harder to eat the way you did before. I get it @Andybtsn, and it’s also why I don’t tell others I’m on it, part of it is shame being honest, the only person I’ve told is my wife. But I am putting the work in alongside it, eating better, working out. So when people ask I tell them that, and it’s not a lie.

However the ‘eating better’ part is much easier being on tirzepatide.

Retatrutide which is going to be the next big one does actually increase your metabolism alongside the effects of tirzepatide. So just being on that one and maintaining your lifestyle before hand you will lose weight. I feel like that’s going to end up being very effective for obese people looking to lose weight, but I suspect a black market for Mr Olympia wannabe bodybuilders who want to get the lowest body fat % will open up. A drug that reduces appetite but also increases metabolism without stimulant effects (higher heart rate, higher core body temp).

There’s gonna be a lot of competition from pharmaceutical companies in this area in the next 10 years. Good for the consumer.

It's just from carbing up. When you're in a calorie deficit, generally your muscles burn their glycogen stores. When you carb up, they are replenished. Muscles can store roughly 500g glycogen and each gram of glycogen is stored with 3g of water. So it's perfectly normal for weight to vary by 1 or 2 KG based on how carbed up you are. If you go back to your previous deficit then your body will just use the stored glycogen over the next couple of days, depending on how active you are.

Ok, well, I'm talking from my own experience. Even if I wanted to continue to eat the crap I was, I literally couldn't do that the minute I started taking Mounjaro, the feeling full quickly and the noise being massively reduced meant I didn't need much willpower to lose weight.

Well I wouldn’t consider it the truth either, but I completely understand why you may not be comfortable telling people.
