NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

I'm ready! Finally caved after upgrading to 2x MSI 272URX 4k panels (30% off on OCUK atm btw), MSI 5090 Trio OC arrives later today, pumped! but wondering about a few points...

I've read a few issues with windows/HDR, and I've been on a 7900 XTX Nitro for the last wee while. Is there any specific NV driver options I should be setting for HDR/OLED? Totally clueless about the new driver interface/app.. Any link to guides would be appreciated!

HDR just works for me, no settings to mess with.

I only enable it for certain HDR titles. All my desktop work is in SDR.

GPU section is unavailable to Matt afaik :p - what score are you getting and what GPU?
It is? Haha, is there a story to go along with that or is he just living in RAM land permanently these days? :D

15.6k / Suprim. Respectable but a good 1k shy of where it could be which is a big chunk, guessing somewhere around 7-10fps. Matt was up in mid 16 with similar clocks so wondering what I'm missing.

Nothing specific about HDR, but Nvidia can do HDR RTX which does a much better job than windows Auto HDR when games don't support HDR at all.

Other than that, some games need tinkering with but it's not GPU specific. This guy is a good resource

I thought about getting a 5070 but I have seen the melting 12pin connector thing. How wide spread is this now?
Typically only seems to impact the higher end with the 5090/4090. With the 5070 you shouldn't be pulling enough wattage for the connector to have any concerns with melting.

What model were you looking at?

I caved and got a Asus TUF 5070 Ti, mostly for messing around with Cyberpunk 2077 + mods where VRAM usage has now reached 12GB  also getting 4K OLED monitor next year.

Really pleased with this card though, there is 1cm clearance in my Torrent Compact case with front stock fans replaced with Noctuas. Can't hear it when gaming, on quiet mode and hasn't gone over 67C. My PC is a quiet build and this GPU is that!

I thought my PSU had 12VHPWR but no! I think I could get the Seasonic cable though, they don't say it's for my PSU but I think it would be fine, it only needs 300W. Plugging in 3x PCIE cables into the 12VHPWR converter cable is ridiculous lol. And I bent that cable all over the place just like they say not to ;) need a 90 degree cable or socket on the GPU to solve that issue. I checked the connection and it's a good job I did coz I thought it was in and took a closer look and it wasn't clicked in yet, with like 0.5mm still to go, the tiniest of clicks to confirm it's in.

Starfield (ship and door simulator) 1440 without DLSS, 90-105fps. Cyberpunk 2077 + mods 1440, PT, DLSS x2, ~144fps.

Even though You are planning on using a cable from the same manufacturer I would definitely recommend you at least contact Seasonic to see if the cable that you're planning on getting is compatible with your specific PSU and would be OK to use. Definitely better to be safe than sorry I say.

Yeah I'll confirm. They say it'll work with 650W and over but also say 600W. It's the PRIME 600 Titanium Fanless, now discontinued.

"With the arrival of the new ATX 3.0 / PCIe 5.0 specifications, some graphic cards will now be powered by the new 12VHPWR connector. Offering up to 600 W of power, the Seasonic 12VHPWR cable has been crafted with high quality materials, such as high current terminal connectors and 16 AWG wires to ensure highest performance and safety in usage."

"Your power supply must have 2x free PCIe connectors available where the Seasonic 12VHPWR’s 2x PCIe connectors can plug into.
BOTH 2x8 Pin PCIe connectors of the 12VHPWR must be connected into the power supply."

I've actually got one of these, been too lazy to fit it

I am using one now with my 5080, no issues.

When i got my 5080 i emailed seasonic and asked them which was the suggested cable for my SSR-1000FX
and the reply was i needed part number 55-2x8P-90-12v-2x6-600w . Works perfectly

So ordered an FE from Nvidia two days ago. No confirmation emails whatsoever and order on their site just says 'Processing'.

Is this normal?

As the card is out of stock again, I'm now questioning whether I've actually been allocated one or just gone back into a queue?

Whole system is garbage compared to the old system used for 30 and 40 series cards.

(Hope this doesn't violate competitor rules as OcUK don't sell FE cards).

It took 10 days for my 5070 to arrive (which I tried to cancel, I ended up refusing it on delivery and am still waiting for the refund). 5080 was pretty quick.

Has your payment been taken?

Ah ok thanks. Yes they've taken payment.

Did you get confirmation emails at all as I've had none?
