It's too cold :(

It's a little cold in the morning on the walk to school. Although, that isn't as bad as the constant rain we've been having for for past week! I'm glad that seems to be over.

We now have a thread for it's too hot and another one for it's too cold.

The thing is, if it's too cold, then you can put on an extra layer, keep a coat in your bag/rucksack, carry some soup in a flask, and generally just check the weather forecasts and be prepared.

If it's too hot however, and you've checked the forecasts, you're already down to 1 layer, nowhere near air conditioning or the shade, then you're screwed.

It's easier to get warm if it's too cold than it is to cool down when it's too hot.

Yesterday we hit our Eco mode temp threshold of 13 in the house so I had to yield as well :(

Already yielded a few times over the last week or so. Morning temperature on the thermostat already down below 16c, only rising by about 1.5c throughout the day without assistance from the boiler.

Plan to move out of this private rental next year into our own home with as much insulation as humanly possible.

Wife's Canadian - we made the mistake of spending Thanksgiving with her Dad in Edmonton, where it dropped to -35°C.

...then I made the mistake of complaining it was cold, so he took me with him to his job in Fort McMurray (big oil & gas zone), where it was -50°C, plus wind-chill. I could feel my eyeballs freezing. The titanium in my spine, hip & shoulder was *creaking*!

Got back to the tropical UK and vowed never to complain about the cold again.

Chucking a load of insulation in the loft was one of my better ideas a couple of years ago. House hasn't dropped below 18c yet so far this year.

Came home from work last night and the wife had the heating for the first time this season....
To be fair she is currently down with covid and got the chills, aches and shivers but I still questioned her decision and thought about turning it off but my will to stay alive got the better of me :D

Atleast its not 35oC and im dripping in my own sweat everytime i lift a finger.
