EV general discussion

But look at the Mach e. Made in Mexico or China (under a JV too) that’s equally Chinese ? Dacia is a sub brand of Renault.

It's a fair point, with so much manufacturing outsourced to China how much difference is there really with a lot of these cars. I guess the difference I'd point to is that the Dacia Spring is only made in China whereas the Mach-E is only made in China for the Chinese market, and that the base car of the Dacia Spring was designed and manufactured in conjunction with a Chinese company. Either way, I think my basic point stands: I don't see how a purely Chinese model is going to have a natural advantage over Dacia here when the Spring is getting build in China in conjunction with a Chinese company already?

Agree, with tariffs and VED changes, building more local may be the way forward anyway. As long as the rare metals will be able to get out of China of course.

Great choice, I've got a midnight blue Iconic. :)

I've got the Masterplug 3-pin charger, only used it a few times when visiting my parents but it works great and the display on the front was neat for checking charging stats and the temperature of the unit. I got mine for about £90 on offer.
I went with the black, couldn't stomach the standard green

Its already released but the update is still rather lacking vs competition. Has anyone on hear bought a Dacia EV?
Wrong market. Anyone enthusiastic enough about cars to post on a forum is not the kind of buyer who buys a Dacia. They are going after those who want cheap, basic transport at a price that would normally have those people buy something used.

Seems to be a bit of ambiguity behind the Spring and its Chinese origins - looks like a fair bit of "assembled" vs "produced" type stuff going on to work around country restrictions and so on :s

Not bad at all for you get in the current market anyway. Nice to see more ev options coming in.

When you look at the price of the ID.Buzz (probably the closest competitor), then it definitely looks like a bargain, you're looking at a 2-3 year old one with 10k miles for the same money.

Probably at the top of our list when it comes to replacing the Niro in 12-18 months :)

I have a Niro EV. But only got it not so long ago so will keep it for a good 3-4 years and then sell before warranty runs out. Great to see more options for when the time comes.

The Niro is perfect for 90% of our use, but with 2 kids and a big dog, it's a real pain when we go away on holiday/camping trips 4-5 times a year. Need to play Tetris with packing the car, stick the roof box on (which is a decent hit to range), and have the kids sitting with bits of tent under their feet, bags on their laps etc, so a medium sized van would be ideal, and give us a lot more freedom (we'd probably end up going away more if it was easier!), along with making it easier to take bikes to the park etc.

Alternatively we keep the Niro and grab a cheap diesel van to run alongside, but then it's double VED/insurance/maintenance costs etc.

After driving my colleagues Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range i will be looking at one of these in a little while. I will probably either buy one with the Boost update or apply myself. I was actually pretty impressed on how well it drives and even though its a 2019 the build quality is very good. The drive is nice and comfy and the screen is really nice (However i might look at buying one of the add in dashboards) The servicing is very very good. I was initially interested in the performance model but after driving one its a little harsh compared to the non performance.

The other car i was looking at was the BMW i4 M50 but comparatively that is significantly more expensive even though i think it looks better and was a bit more special inside but for my needs i cant really justify the additional cost of the car and the significant yearly service charge on the BMW.

I thought the 35 was meant to be more fun to drive 200kg lighter and faster in a straight line 50-70;
though, practicality of a hatch carries it for me over a t3, plus insurance had been 50% of tesla in quotes i had.

get the 2022+ model with ryzen and lithium low-voltage battery
the atoms make the OS very slow and this is very noticeable

i've got the acceleration boost on mine - not worth it
i use chill mode and it's more than sufficient tbh

i've got the add-in drivers display LMK if you want any more info on random stuff to buy for the model 3 (i bought loads lol)
