and for anyone with the OG non-highland model 3, one of the best quality-of-life improvements you can get is the rubber door seals
i didn't believe it at first, but wow does it transform the cabin environment, and is much more quiet with the seals

there's a YT short of this, and I can concur with the level of noise reduction

(how long the adhesive will last...IDK, but it was cheap enough from AliExpress )

get the 2022+ model with ryzen and lithium low-voltage battery
the atoms make the OS very slow and this is very noticeable

i've got the acceleration boost on mine - not worth it
i use chill mode and it's more than sufficient tbh

i've got the add-in drivers display LMK if you want any more info on random stuff to buy for the model 3 (i bought loads lol)

Yeah will probably be looking at a 23-24k as i love the newer sleaker lights but the facelifted ones look a fair bit better than pre 2022 ones. I also believe that post 19 will normally have the heatpump? I might wait an extra year or so though as hopefully there should be a decent amount of lower mileage ex company vehicles that are a little cheaper because they are not the newer variant.

Is there a dash available that has HUD? I have been looking at a few but cant see any with that feature (I can only assume its because they sit quite far from the windscreen it wouldnt be bright enough to be effective?) I do like the s3xy nob though and might have to look at the stalks if i cant get used to the turning buttons.

yes the highland refresh (73+ reg) have the newer lights and look far better than the frog-like look of the OG (19-73 reg)

no HUDs i'm afraid, or at least i've not found any drivers display with HUD

I do like the s3xy nob though and might have to look at the stalks if i cant get used to the turning buttons.

i've not used the s3xy knob so can't really say if it would be truely transformative, certainly i don't feel any loss of functionality without it
you can get aftermarket stalks to retrofit on the highland on aliexpress

No it’s fine, just shouldn’t be on the public road. Atleast it has after treatment unlike a traditional fuel burning heater

Noticed this morning that the efficient charge route planning function on my ID7 is only for 2 years, after that its £129 a year. Seems like a fair chunk of change for a key feature for a EV. Is it also a chargeable function with other makes?

Id rather pay for the likes of ABRP and run it through car play, only downside is that it wont appear in the HUD.

Yes, I’ve got the Connected Package Pro on my BMW i5 which includes data connection, connected nav, connected charging etc. not sure on the annual cost as it’s active until 2 weeks after my hire period.

Pretty close now to getting something fully electric. Just trying to narrow it down. We're building a house which will be 100% solar reliant, and there's some decent deals in Spain with grants etc, so the cost of petrol each month almost offsets the monthlies.

Have been battling between PHEV and full EV. However i think my argument to replace petrol with car payments only works if i can cover all journeys using electric vs having to dip into petrol and ~90km on the best PHEV's just isn't enough range. There's probably only a few occasions a year we might need >400km in a single journey and i'm pretty happy to stop and charge mid journey on anything that long anyway.

BYD Atto 3 - Really like the interior on this but can't decide if it might age terribly as it's pretty "out there"

The Skoda probably the one i'd like the most, but specing it up is turning into a nightmare as it's just millions of different add on packs and i'm having to add a €2000 pack just to get an electric boot which is making the price fairly astronomical. The MG is really well specced and actually felt pretty nice in the showroom.

I'm back in the UK next week for work and have rented a Jeep Avenger so looking forward to that as an extended test drive

What exactly does this do for you as a driver? It must be very efficient planning to justify £129 to save a bit of electricity. Is it a key feature ?

This is pretty standard I think (although only 2 years is a bit on the short side), the Kia one is for 7 years (same as the warranty), and IIRC my Zoe was 5 years.

To be honest, while I used the in-car maps, I've never actually used the charge planning functionality; on the odd occasion we need to charge en-route, I tend to plan a stop in advance rather than letting the car do it, so we can make sure to stop somewhere nice with multiple chargers where we can actually stretch our legs and have something decent to eat, rather than risk being routed to a single broken down charger in a layby where the only food option is a rancid burger from a greasy "food" trailer run by a serial killer

A guy at work has a new Audi a3, if you want high beam assist it's £4 a month.
The wife's 20k byd has it as standard.

That’s only for ‘premium connectivity’ which is focused around media streaming.

The data connection to the car for navigation, charging etc is included for 10 years.

It’s not clear what will happen after those 10 years yet as all the early cars include it for lifetime. There is still another 5 years to go yet before anyone will hit this trigger.

You can also connect your car to your phones hotspot and do most (but not all) of the stuff included in premium connectivity.
