The rise of Ozempic

If your body needs 2000 calories a day then wont it get 2000 cal a day. Either food or food and fat... Or Fat.

You gotta watch that 2000 calorie thing though.

It's an average.

It depends on height, metabolism etc, but you have to factor in people who do manual jobs, sports people etc.

If you work in an office/at home on a computer and don't exercise you'll need way less than 2000.

Yeah, My point was the body will get the calories it needs from somewhere. Until there isn't enough. Obviously theres other factors and not just fat, Muscle Glycogen stores etc

A human can apparently live for 2-3 months without food, so when most people say they are starving, they're really not...

You can live for 2-3 months eating very little, believe me I did it.

It's actually quite amazing how little you need to survive.

You could easily go 2 weeks though, easily.

I wouldn't want to test it past that, I reckon a month is doable, again, I wouldn't want to, not voluntarily anyway.

Plus it isn’t just fat your body breaks down to survive - it takes muscle too amongst other things.

Yep, amazing what you can achieve with willpower.

Just signed up to Wegovy through Juniper. Need to shed some weight - used to be 85kg and toned through strength training before I started my PhD - post PhD I'm now just shy of 120kg as I didn't have the time or motivation for strength training plus stress eating and now I'm 100% wfh so not very active during the day. One motivator was that I really struggled snow boarding last Christmas, so need to shed some mass. Plan is to get down to about 105kg and restart the strength training.
Your situation and mine are almost exact the same. I’m 120kg and 100% wfh and have my first shot of mounjaro in the fridge, I’m not feeling great so have chickened out thus far but it’ll be cool to see how you get on

Not sure if this is serious but why would you want to lose more than about 2lb in a week? Why is eating hardly anything in a day "good"? Sounds like the express train to skinny fat.

I went carnivore diet for the sake of it, not for weight loss, i went from 90kg to 80kg in 3-4 weeks.

This is me trying to eat as much as i can, often during this period i would have like one piece of pork belly left and bin it.

This is to say your assumption is not correct that losing 1kg in a week is hardly eating anything, as i was attempting to eat until i am full 100% of the time.

I didn't assume that.

Then I’d say you got a tapeworm in that meat.

10kg is about 60,000 calories worth, meaning a 2000 calorie deficit PER DAY to lose it in 30 days.

Guess it's time to join the thread, day 1 on MJ...

Cost is less than I thought, bearing in mind all the drama about the recent price increase. Looks like about 60-70% on average, not 300%.

Must remember to cancel the Deliveroo platinum subscription and I guess I'll have to give up on McDonalds Monopoly

Seriously though, I'm pretty excited. Going to pick up some Huel this weekend and go back to the meat/veg based diet I did 15 years ago.
