Hi all
I got a key box next to my door but i cant seem to set the code.

It always remains unlocked
I removed the key.
I picked it up from toolstation
I will find the product name and report back

Meanwhile R there any other alternatives on the market that any of u would recommend?

Its this one…

Might be doing something wrong but feels absolutely useless
Might take it back to the store

Having watched a few Lock Picking Lawyer videos I'd completely forget about a key box. They are a useless waste of money.

I dunno, they make it really easy for someone to know where your spare key is. Ours is at least around the back of the house inside a little outbuilding through some gates. You have to at least make an effort.

I'm under no illusions about how safe keysafes are or how safe a general front door lock is.

Never understood these things being next to the door. Huge advert for "here is my spare key - take a hammer to me". They are not robust in the slightest.

For carers, health visitors to access?

The same ones do not visit all the time and with multiple visitors you could be dishing out lots of keys.

Yes but why put it right next to the door rather than somewhere a bit less obvious?

Sometimes there are fewer options, access to the back may be difficult etc. At least front doors are usually under observation from passers by and the door cams of neighbours. Smashing hell out if would not go unobserved.

It is probably just as safe as leaving parcels in a bin. Many villains will have a go regardless of having a key as can be seen in motor theft.

My sister had one (she needs 24/7 care), but after a disgruntled carer used it to rob her flat, we switched to an Ultion Nuki digital lock - this way we can change the PIN whenever she has a change in care staff and we can set individual PINs to monitor who's in & out.

Nice but how much do they cost and do they need a power source?

I will take my lock key to toolstation as it isnt even locking properly

Ah its a smart lock
Not sure im interested
One outage and ul be locked outta ya own home not to mention powercuts
However unlikely

Carers change all the time, holidays, banking staff, and so can often be a brand new person who has never been, so now the handover involves giving the new person details of exactly where the out of the way keybox is, as well as the combination. And the carers are given minimal time already with each client, some are 10 min calls.

I'd imagine these are battery powered as are those we are looking that have a key should the battery fail.
