Prince Andrew is out!

There was never a criminal charge so there was no evasion of a criminal charge by status or otherwise.

On the basis of nothing, people are being real sure about things.

I never said there was a criminal charge, I said she was of legal age here but not in the states. He also didn't personally sex traffic here to the UK either. Another poster said because the MET said they weren't brining a case that means he's innocent of any wrong doing, that doesn't mean any such thing.

If it was nothing he'd not be getting pushed out, though still being a Prince means it's all pointless he will still be damaging the Royal family by association until Charles realises this will never go away.

He might be safe enough whilst Charles is King, but I don't think the future King William has much time for him.

heir apparent "Are you out of your damn mind ? I am a UK prince - Exactly"

when the lease was started - palace had apparently said - it's in a secure place so can't let it to anyone,
and like many historic houses if you can find someone to pay for its upkeep (he paid£8m) even with negligible rent - that's a win for the tax-payer.
Don't forget kings got a bad rep for keeping his tenants homes maintained in the Duchy.

Negative, that accolade falls to his son, the Duke of Cornwall :)
I think he was right.
Charles was the Duke of Cornwall from 1952 until he became King in 2022. The title is automatically given to the eldest son of the reigning monarch, which is why his son, Prince William, is the current Duke of Cornwall.

There was a story in 2024, when William was Duke of Cornwall, but the properties had not suddenly become damp, poor repair, energy inefficient etc, etc in the ~18months since he was Duke

The *nothing* is about the lack of criminal charges hence it being fantasy to talk about status keeping him out of criminal court.

Being associated with low behaviour is something to be pushed out over whether it's illegal or not.

You really believe Andrew has so much of his own money that paying out £12M would be trivial to him?

And if you do believe that, how do you think he got so rich?

But we are in agreement it seems that it's insignificant to him. People think it was the queen that paid it, which it definitely is insignificant for, and so for Andrew it costs £0. An easy cost to make the problem go away

Sure but Charles will stay until death so by then Andrew will be as good as, if not already, dead too.

Starmers a bit of an idiot then
Addressing Sir Keir at Prime Minister’s Questions, Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey asked: “Given the revelations about the Royal Lodge, does the prime minister agree that this House needs to properly scrutinise the crown estate to ensure taxpayers’ interests are protected?
“The chancellor herself has said that the current arrangements are wrong, so will the prime minister support a select committee inquiry so all those involved can be called for evidence – including the current occupant?”

you really want to have that debate ?
The Duchy of Lancaster, established in 1399, and Prince William's Duchy of Cornwall, established in 1337, both hold large amounts of land and commercial property in England and Wales.

Their contracts with public bodies are said to include a £37.5 million agreement between the Duchy of Cornwall and the Ministry of Justice to lease Dartmoor Prison, and a £11.4 million deal between Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust and the Duchy of Lancaster to rent a London warehouse over 15 years to store ambulances.

The estates also reportedly charge the Ministry of Defence for access to moor boats and refuel warships, some state schools to use their properties, and a local borough council to operate a toll bridge.

The estates are not subject to corporation tax and the royals do not pay capital gains tax on the assets they sell. They voluntarily pay income tax on the surplus.
maybe reeves will fix it for us.
