Maybe this should be in the "things that make you go hmmm" thread... have some free software to make backups of windows installs, works well, but theres an agent that simply will not shut down despite going through all the usual channels of not enabling it on startup, etc. Even Services will not shut it down (stops and immediately restarts). Will not even let you open file location on the thing (found it anyway but yeah). Lists itself as "CHENGDU CORP" or somesuch. So booted up linux live usb and manually deleted it that way. Colour me suspicious its not the usual malware that lurks in temp folders and the like this is openly advertised software that just happens to have something lurking in a buried folder that you just can't shut down nor quite pin down what it does...

In that same vein, you know what is weird? For some reason, Safari on my new M4 Mac mini, specially, in forums have been running really slow when I am making a post. The more I type, the slower the response it is, like a word would lag 10 seconds behind after I typed it before it appear on screen. As soon as I come out of the text box, it speeds up. I have no idea why....

It just hit me that it could be some extensions I have installed but I have installed only 3.

The common apps I install on all my other machines are Grammarly and Keepa but only this one has Adblock so now I have removed it and now it's fixed!
 
Really pleased with this phone cam pic.

Really difficult to use a phone cam close up with it's jittery focus. Took many attempts.

We now have five patches of fungi growing randomly in our garden. They are getting disturbingly large in the space of a fortnight. Sorry to be the source that leads to The Last of Us irl.

I had that last month, a couple of cuts and they've stopped. You''ll be safe enough!

They were already large. The mushrooms you see are only a tiny part of the fungi, basically apples to the apple tree.
 
Modern camera phones have made the general public misinformed as to how many megal pixels is enough.

An external company for some photos for a marketing campaign (mainly digital based, not road side billboards) of one of our personnel, they asked for high resolution, so I sent them the original file size taken from my A73.

They then come back with "got these already, do you have "super resolution"?

I had to explain that it is taken with an A73 with a 24mp sensor that outputs a 6000x4000 pixels image and they got a 3983x5974 due to a slight rotation correction and it is high enough resolution to print an A1 poster.

I think these days if a photo isn't 50mp, they think it isn't enough.

At the weekend, when a competitor's number was said over the PA (67), I immediately said "six seven", to the absolute amazement of my kids.

Hopefully I have now ruined this for them.

There literally is no point in owning a nice car as some **** in a truck will come and damage the rear of your car

These people should not be allowed to drive trucks
