Even a non fault claim will put your insurance up you know that right?

Yes I'm fully aware of this..

So what I just let it go ? I mean I can have a go with compound polish etc but there are some deep scratches there and also paint that needs doing

Luckily no dents

What would you do in this situation ?

I'd pay myself to get that professionally repaired. Your chances of getting anything from the other party are slim to zero, and even if you do your insurance will increase as stated above, so long term it would probably work out more expensive.

How much would someone charge for professional repair ? Deep scratches, paint damage etc

Bumpers I can see on eBay for around £250 mark snapper rocks
The issue is making it exactly the same colour as your car. The same paint code still won't look exactly the same, especially not with the colour your car is.

Try and bother them into paying cash with threats of police etc if you can get contact details and then give up and move on.

It's super frustrating, I discovered a far less serious but through the clear coat scrap in the same place on mine the other day. Trying to roll with it.

It's liberating caring less about your car.

I'm waiting at the exit gate as there is a flood of cars leaving after a show so will see if they come out. May not happen though

Ok managed to get him as he was driving out

He admitted it and the security guy was the witness to him owning up

He gave me his phone number and said what ever way he wants to sort he's happy to

What do I do now ? Get some quotes not via insurance or via insurance

For the love of god do not use your insurance. You should only resort to the insurance if you can't work out something privately, or if the repair/damage is extensive. For a little bumper scuff like this, the insurance premium hike will hurt you more over the next 5 years than paying to repair it will.

Get some quotes for a repair, then get him to pay for it. Simples. If he isn't cooperative, then you either go through insurance or you pay for it yourself. Or live with it.

If you go through insurance, they will fit a new bumper and spray it using your paint code and it will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever be the same colour as the rest of your car. Never. Not with that blue. The other option is blending it in with the rest of the paintwork and then you end up with a multi-shaded car.

In summary, get it done privately and by someone who knows what they're doing. Don't just get the whole bumper resprayed.

urrgh that sucks. :( i had similar when i had my esoteril blue 428i - some ***Really??!!*** caused a massive scratch down the passenger door
i had it smart repaired but i hate to break the bad news that the colour will unfortunately never match, even with the same colour code
eventually my ocd got the better of me and i sold the car (and also because i got an awesome deal on a 440i lol)

if you really wanted to, it will have to be a 3-4 panel paint job with blending etc, will run to about £1000+ nowadays and i think that driver will just tell you to f off

Just to set expectations, I had someone drive into the back of the ID.7 in crawling traffic, drove off after I asked for their details, and called the police immediately quoting a crime in progress.

Was told to submit online and received an email saying I won’t hear from them
They were too busy kicking doors in to arrest people for calling someone gay on social media!

Yeah it sucks! It ruins what was yours and 'non car people' don't understand that colours like that require a full respray to make it impossible to notice.
Yep, it kills your love/bond with the car doesn't it, and it's wrong someones taken that passion away from you. All because they're a selfish bell end who cant drive!
At least the silver lining was the 440i <3 B58 FTW!

commiserations - presumably from other vehichle/truck you know if its a company/business car so they're likely to fix it outside insurance;

There is no CCTV clear

It took me and and the security guy waiting around until the Cardiff millennium centre shows finished. There was a huge exit of cars then it was still there. Then eventually they came back and I got the details

I did get a look in the CCTV room though but the camera angles were not right

Had text exchange with him this morning he is willing to sort out without going through insurance as long as it's not extortionate

I am going to a local body shop later for a quote but can anyone list me some well known links that could do the work ? Not really my area of expertise

Otherwise I'll search for Cardiff based repair shops:

Edit: found the name of the body shop who repaired my 120d rear bumper years ago when i went through insurance. It was either through hastings or admiral that sent me to them

iRG Cardiff ill get a quote from them too
