Tabletop Warhammer?

Oh dear, despite resisting temptation for so long I will be giving GW some money. I was going to get Kill Team as a nice self contained game but my daughter saw the Harlequins CP box.

Pre-ordered that and the codex (she likes physical books and is interested in the fluff and imagery). After much consideration I have ordered the Nurgle CP box and Codex for when it restocks.

Hopefully they will turn up about the same time. That's our (slightly early) birthday presents sorted any way.

I only just played my first tournament a couple of weeks ago and that was just a beginner one. I am a long way from ever playing competitively at event like that lol.
What army you taking?

My Necrons.

Though I finally caved and purchased 3 casino cannons as I tried a list last weekend that worked really really well except my high damage output anti tank was reliant on the heavy destroyers, and they were an easy target due to low wounds and no invunerable save.

That it still has the guard rails and antenna is insane. Those are so flimsy, none of mine are still intact. :D
I'd swear ours used to snap when glueing them on.

Got to admit I miss the hobby, more the minis than the gameplay. Hoping the restocks of the Death Guard CP box will happen by the end of the month. Wayland have allocated stock for the Harlequins box, so my daughter will have hers by the start of next week, all things going well.

My immediate neighbour and son play, so we don't have to go far for some extra games. We can just fit a CP board on our fold up dining table with a bit of space either side for cards etc. Their kitchen island could easily fit a 2000pt full game :D.

Same here :D

They look really nice!

I was given around an 1800 point Necron Army around 4 weeks ago, still got loads more to paint.

Jumped back onto the Tomb World terrain this afternoon, loads of drybrush work to do on it but nearly got the first coat of Incubi Darkness on all of it, 2 more shades of green to go but less to drybrush.

I find it semi annoying I can't get the same shade of yellow despite using the same process but I guess with a bit of weathering etc it will bother me less, plus I'm mixing chapters just for visual interest so there's that.

So todays results:

Necrons 100-52 Space Wolves
Necrons 87-74 Orcs
Necrons 51-68 Guard

Honestly I kind of threw the last one by pointing out some silly mistakes my opponent was making and letting him take the moves back. On top of that he had bottom of round scoring on hidden supplies. So somewhat annoyed at myself for being too nice  :D

So certainly have some work to do tomorrow, first game against Nids and his army list doesnt really concern me. I can see why its given his current opponents issues (4x 10man gargoyle squads) but my list has multiple easy ways to knock out entire squads of that and a few big creatures that the DDAs will have a feild day shooting into.

Also watched one of the most unsporting players ive ever seen, he timed out on clock so his opponent let him finish off using his time instead, and then the guy who got timed out tried to pull "round time" at the 3 hour mark so the guy who loaned him the time wouldnt get to clap back.

It was actually embarassing with the guy trying to do any trick to secure the win when if the nice guy didnt loan him that time would have probably tabled him instead.

Gradually getting there on the Tomb World terrain might be finished by Christmas as there is so much of it to paint.

The last thing I will paint using my airbrush will be some osl lighting on all the glowing orbs.

People like this are the exception. Most people are just here for a good time and to be sporting.

That's good, I just read so many incidents where people are using every tactic in the book to get a win it puts me off as like your good self, I'm just wanting to enjoy myself and would give some leeway with honest mistakes made, or provide commentary if someone was about to do something silly.
Even when I played in that beginner tournament last month, there was one guy who you could tell was taking it a lot more seriously than the others and my game against him happened to be the least fun, however I also accept I had a bad list (Literally just took stuff I'd not used much regardless of synergy etc) and he had help from his brother who is one of the regular winners of the GT/RTs they do there.

Now Autumn's setting in I'm getting back into this hobby, first time painting or checking this topic in ages. There's been some some truly amazing stuff posted, some of those large figures are incredible. Seen some painting techniques these last few pages that I can't even imagine how good you'd have to be to do.

I'm planning an ork display after having finished my Grey Knights and Marines chapters ones. I don't like the Ork Combat patrol box as it's too big for the cases I use and also not a fan of those big red squigs as mounts, so I just got a box of old style Boyz and a Wartrike set to make up my own display.

First attempt below at the first ork from my Alloween Gitz clan using orange and purple clan colours. These are before varnishing, I've later made the trousers and leather more detailed and matt, but kept the slimy looking skin. Just going for a basic and easy style that I can get done in a reasonable timeframe. It definitely is fun doing a halloween theme this time of year. Those old orks Boyz convey their horror side a lot better than the new style Boyz do in my opinion, the Wartrike set I have as part of my display is in the new style, but still goes well with these old Boyz. I slightly edited the axe to glue the human head to be swinging from it. So far building and painting orks has been a lot of fun compared to the more intricate and challenging Grey Knights.

Here's Nog Choppa, the clan executioner.

Have Aeldari shrunk from their Eldar days or am I just much older with knackered eyes (most likely)?

My daughter's Harlequin CP box arrived and they look so tiny. I don't remember struggling to paint the O.G. plastic Guardians but I think I will be landing her my magnifying headset . Thank the old gods I went for Nurgle, at least mistakes can be smothered in grime and pestilant oozing.

@PC777 Nice colours and theme, I was put off the Ork CP for the same reason. I'd want my Waaargh to be to the roar of bikes and buggies. I will always be an Evil Sunz Ork boy at heart, then probably Goff as second choice (with Rokk Band of course).
