Hi all,

I think I've finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade from my FTW3 3080ti to a 5080.

I don't have a lot of space in the case with the slot space as I have a sound card in there, so I'd be limited to a 3 slot card at most.

The cards that have caught my eye are:

There's not a lot of reviews out there for the MSI gaming trio, but if anyone could provide feedback on these cards if they have them it would be much appreciated!

Also just to add, the room the pc is in, can get very hot so I need to look at a card with a good cooler.

Cheers!

For what it's worth. I own a MSI Vanguard (launch edition) 5080 and a Zotac AMP infinity 5080.

The MSI is the better card in my opinion as it runs cooler, seems like the cooler is more efficient (better designed) it also overclocks better which may just be down to the silicone lottery.
The Zotac still works fine but if I were to pick between the two it would be the MSI. :D

The Vanguard looks like a fantastic card, unfortunately I think it'll be out of my price range. I've decided to stick to £1200 at max and even then I'm struggling to justify the price.

This is genuinely the most I've paid for a single pc component, all because I like playing my games at max settings

I wouldn't pay more than £1K for a 5080 if you can avoid paying extra, and to be honest the FE is a great choice for a 5080 also unless the design just puts you off it entirely.
But I understand people paying more for aesthetics/preference (guilty of it with 5090) but I prefer to hand out the wisdom than follow it :D

Where are you seeing a founders for £1k?

I upgraded from a 3080Ti Strix to a Zotac 5080 and have been impressed by how cool & quiet it runs. I'm playing at 4K so it's often pinned at 100% usage and it's always well under control. Zero coil whine, too.

I have the same card and like you say its great. Its not only one of the smaller cards which I prefer but it is really quiet and cool. I have it downvolted and it never goes above 75degrees. No need to get the really expensive ones in my opinion.

I would have said go for a FE but it does appear they're no longer available on Nvidia's site. Bit weird but perhaps it's just an in and out kind of thing now but the 'Brand' option has been taken out entirely now.

Either wait for the supers or grab a 5070ti and save a significant chunk of change.

A 5070ti is more or less a 4080 performance wise and I'm doing fine at 4k with my 4080.

You will have to use DLSS and run the most demanding of demanding games at slightly lowered graphics but using the Geforce Experience it's still a wonderful GPU.

Google tells me a 5070ti is 10-20% slower but up to 50% cheaper than a 5080.
