LG G5

There are soundbars that cost £999?
Allegedly :p
My mistake .. as I ordered the stand version of the TV (as opposed to wall mount version) I got the £699 sound bar set-up. No idea what its like TBH as I have a seperates Home Cinema set up, but it does have wireless sub and wireless rear speakers in a 5.1.1 Atmos system. So worth a bit I would say, (seeing as I paid £200 for a very good but basic Bose Sound bar back in Dec last year).

I was very reluctant to let my old B7 go, as the picture was still great after nearly 8 years, but this G5 has moved it on. A quick look at "The Meg"on 4K BD blew me away.
Mind you it took me a lot of time to find basic things like how to select an input, as its way different now, no instant selection via remote. Some things make life needlessly more laborious :D

Pro tip: you can set channels and inputs as shortcuts so, next time you're on your HDMI input for Blu-ray player, hold down one of the number keys. It will offer you to save the input to that key.

Long press 0 to edit the shortcuts :)

Ended up buying one from Marks Electrical for £1720 with the marks+ offer due to getting 10% cashback from there + £100 prepaid mastercard once I can claim it - hopefully ends up less than £1500 when all is said and done + 5 years warranty

HDR performance being the primary reason of interest for PC gaming so hopefully it's a good experience.

I do wonder how backwards we go with newer technology !
Why does it not auto switch to a newly powered up hdmi device automatically ?
I have CEC turned on, I turned it off, turned the tv off and on and then re enabled it. Now my set top box does auto switch when turned on (it didn't to start with), but I cant get the xbox360 to do it. (yeah I know .. but its there for retro gaming reasons:p)
Neither does the AV Amp ... but that might be as its on the ARC so my be normal ?

When I turn my PC on the TV prompts me to switch, just press OK...

I thought the new LG's do offer default input? My C9 doesn't. One option is to use a remote with macros.

I don't like the TV or AV pre amp changing inputs (if using CEC) if I switch a source on or off, I might switch it on but not at that moment want to switch inputs.

It is quite odd frankly ... Yes I have enabled a button press so I can switch HDMI via remote as luckybenski mentioned. Besides that the CEC is enabled, only the set top box will auto switch if it is turned on. The X360 will flash up a notification in the top right but remain on the source you are on. The AV amp likewise, although if this is in standby the TV will turn it on to feed the audio, so that is as it should be.

I recently got a G5. My first OLED. My first 4K TV, even :p

Thought I'd splash out and get the best, but I have been struggling a little with it. I find the low luminance colour reproduction to be poor in SDR, especially in dark or grainy Blurays. Colours get greyed out and it's quite distracting. Also VRR flicker is horrendous and makes me want to not play games on it. Part of me is actually regretting the decision to purchase

Any ideas on how to solve the colour issue?

LG TV's no longer supporting DTS pass-through has killed the option of buying another LG TV for me.

Huge amounts of my Plex library are DTS, and I use the TV as the center of my system, ARCing audio out if/when I want to :(

Still using an E7 with the great built in soundbar config.

This is so frustrating. Everyone always says "But no one uses DTS". It's a multi thousand pound flagship TV. It should support everything.

Yup.

And whole point of E-ARC is making the TV the "hub"

I did use E-ARC for a while but I ran into problems, I'd be annoyed if it dropped all DTS content to stereo. Like going back to VHS stereo/Pro Logic era :D

I have an additional problem in that my soundbar supports all the audio formats, but can only pass through HDR10, not DV or HDR10+, so I have a choice of DTS or DV, but not both. I chose to prioritise audio after some research.

I've also heard that eARC can be a pain.

Yup. I had audio drop outs with specific HD codecs, I think DTS X and DTS HD. Loud clicks on chapter skip, randomely dropping from DTS X to DTS or something like that. Fine with Dolby HD and Atmos.

Sorted with going source->processor>TV

My TV passes DTS, fully support of E-ARC and my processor is E-ARC
