Hi
I am looking for a new pre built system like one of the towers on your homepage: OcUK Gaming Karambit - Intel Core i5 14600KF, GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Gaming PC and it will be used for gaming.
I want to upgrade some parts of it, like: the case, the memory, the cooler, and the solid state drive, can you tell me if this is a good combination.

Upgrade the Lian Li Lancool 205M Mesh Micro-ATX PC Case - Black to the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Micro-ATX Glass Case - Black (+ £55.04)

I am happy with the cpu: Intel Core i5-14600KF (Raptor Lake-S) Socket LGA1700 Processor - Retail (No price increase)

Upgrade the Kingston FURY Beast 16GB (2x8GB) DDR5 PC5-44800C40 5600MHz Dual Channel Kit to Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 PC5-44800C40 5600MHz Dual Channel Kit (+£60.00)

Upgrade the MSI MAG CORELIQUID A13 240 BLACK ARGB Performance All In One CPU Cooler - 240mm to the Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240 Core II ARGB All In One CPU Cooler - 240mm (+£7.00)

I am happy with the graphics card Zotac GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Twin Edge 8GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card (No price increase) but it does say to pre order?

Upgrade the WD Black SN7100 500GB SSD NVME M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 Solid State Drive to the Crucial T500 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 Solid State Drive (+£13.00)

Add an extra solid stare drive: Crucial P310 1TB M.2 2280 PCI-e 4.0 NVMe Solid State Drive (+£61.99)

I am happy with the operating system, Windows 11 Home Advanced (No price increase)

I have a keyboard and mouse, speakers and a monitor.

The monitor is around 6 or 7 years old and uses either VGA or DVI to connect to my current tower (will need to turn the pc off to check it), but will it connect alright to the new tower or is it old fashioned and will need a newer type of connection? (I am waiting until black friday to see if there are any good deals on monitors).

I am looking for a second solid state drive to use one for the operating system and the other one for storage, all my files and downloaded games, etc. Or will it be just as good having the operating system and file storage on one solid state drive?

I can see two USB ports on the front of the tower, are there more on the back of the case?
My wireless keyboard and mouse will need one usb port, my headphones will need another USB port, i have external hard drives that i connect on and off using usb, so an extra one or two USB ports on the back of the case to take the keyboard dongle would be great to free up at least one of the two ports on the front for my external hard disks.

What about WI-FI, i see no mention of a wi-fi card in the build and i will need wi-fi?

Are the two round ports on the front of the case for wired speakers, my Logitech speakers are currently plugged into the back of my tower, the speakers are also 6 or 7 years old?

Approximately how long will it take and what will be the process when i order the tower?
Are delivery days Monday to Friday, just seeing if i need to take time off work for the delivery?

Edit - I had the price worked out at £1397.02 with the upgrades on on the homepage?

Thanks for your help,
Andrew.

What is your exact and total budget for the PC unit and monitor?

Regardless, you don't want to go with that generation of Intel processors due to well known degradation issues, and for gaming AMD is on top for newer generations.

I was hoping not to bother with a monitor just now, just stating about mine as it is a bit older and hopefully it will connect to the new tower alright.

My budget is between £1300 and £1400 for the tower unit.

I chose the intel processor because i read that Intel are better than AMD, it may be wrong.

Modern graphics cards use DisplayPort or HDMI.

Just to be clear, this forum is a community forum (OCUK staff do come here, but they're not frequent posters) and OCUK customer service are better placed to answer some of your questions.

VGA and DVI are not present on new graphics cards. They have either HDMI or DP. If your DVI connector is digital, the you can use a DVI adapter. Alternatively, you can use a VGA to DP adapter, but these are active (i.e. require some processing, they're not just a wire) and are more expensive than a passive adapter or cable.

Motherboards do sometimes have VGA connectors, usually the lower-end ones, but that's not much good to you.

I am happy with the graphics card Zotac GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Twin Edge 8GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card (No price increase) but it does say to pre order?
I'd strongly recommend you do not buy the 8GB version of this card, maybe unless you just play esports or old games.

I can see two USB ports on the front of the tower, are there more on the back of the case?
Almost all motherboards have at least 4 on the rear I/O, usually 6 or more.

What about WI-FI, i see no mention of a wi-fi card in the build and i will need wi-fi?
Does it say "WIFI 6" under network? The listing I ca see does.

If there's no mention in the listing, then I'd assume it does not.

It is not a problem, but there's two main issues:
1. Low capacity drives tend to be poor value (per GB).
2. You get very limited number of M.2 slots on most boards (e.g. just 2 or 3), so filling them with small drives limits your upgrade options. You do get SATA ports, of course, but good SATA drives are getting scarce.

Upgrade the Kingston FURY Beast 16GB (2x8GB) DDR5 PC5-44800C40 5600MHz Dual Channel Kit to Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 PC5-44800C40 5600MHz Dual Channel Kit (+£60.00)
For sure, don't want 16GB in a new gaming PC.

Upgrade the Lian Li Lancool 205M Mesh Micro-ATX PC Case - Black to the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Micro-ATX Glass Case - Black (+ £55.04)
The 205M is a decent case, but eh, cases are always personal preference.

Upgrade the WD Black SN7100 500GB SSD NVME M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 Solid State Drive to the Crucial T500 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 Solid State Drive (+£13.00)
Makes sense.

Add an extra solid stare drive: Crucial P310 1TB M.2 2280 PCI-e 4.0 NVMe Solid State Drive (+£61.99)
Not the best of drives, but fine for storage.

Very outdated view and has been for some time.

If you get in touch with OCUK and ask them to build the following they will for a fee, it will result in a much better system overall with a lot of future potential upgrades:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,114.78 (includes delivery: £11.98)

Obviously if you build yourself you're going to save a lot more, but if you aren't willing to do so it's understandable. The only caveat is to not buy retail W11, you might be able to carry the licence over from your existing system but even then you can buy them online for £10-15. Windows is extremely easy to install via USB and does most of the work itself, buying retail will cost you roughly £100 + and damage your overall build.

There are pros/cons to each and it depends on the budget and the usage of the PC. However, 13th-14th gen CPUs I'd just avoid at this point, because we don't know if they can be trusted to survive in the longer-term and they've been replaced by the Core Ultra CPUs anyway. If you were a DIY buyer, you could just say, "eh, whatever, I'll use the 5 year warranty" and roll the dice, but I don't know if OCUK would honour Intel's extended warranty and these CPUs aren't normally good enough value to justify it.

10 years ago i got a build on here and ordered the parts and built it, but i would rather have it built these days, times change.

I am still using windows 10, my current tower won't upgrade to windows 11, just too old, so will need to include windows 11 in the build.

What would you recommend for a monitor around £100 to £200, no curved screens?

Going to copy and paste a link to this thread and send it to customer services.

Thanks for the help, Andrew.

Went with the system above from Overclockers, it's as near Gray's build as they ould get it .
Thanks again Gray2233.

Not a bad pre-build tbh, surprisingly decent selection of PSU for them too so you've plenty of upgrade potential.

Nice choice, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
