This will surely have a chilling effect on TV prices like what happened with LCD when the Chinese started making their own

Won't even be fully running until 2027 - 20% cheaper manufacturing costs according to the article and inkjet technology.

Now we will have 3 types of OLED display on the market win/win

I expect them to also target market segments that have potentially being ignored by others (or I would do if I was the new kid on the block) 1080p OLED, 8K OLED, 24" 37" 42" with high refresh rates, 16:10 displays etc.

lower prices that no doubt wont be passed on to the consumer.

inflation would eat that 20% before 2027 at this rate

Not really, prices have been coming down nicely, my 77S95D was £3k a year ago, only 4 years previous the comparable OLED was £7k

Supply and demand. More supply = lower prices. The TCL factory when it opens in 2027 will be able to manufacture 45 thousand 65inch screens per month, and that will supply is on top of what LG and Samsung sell
 
Having had 2 HiSense/TCL's (they use the same screens) which failed together in under 2 weeks back to back from new, the idea of an OLED by them, is laughable to me, regardless of price.
They were nearly a grand and had every 'gaming' feature, you'd want, half of which didn't work properly, such as 144Hz 4K in either HDMI2.1, and the smearing/ghosting was headache inducing.
If they can't even make a decent LED TV, then I've no hope for them making an OLED :cry:
 
that being said, i don't mind a cheap OLED i can use as a secondary monitor for my computer though. or, if these chinese companies can find a way round the purple fringing issue, i may just get it as my primary monitor :cry:
