Going to be doing the Mazda 3 brake pads soon and noticed they have little metal shims/spacers between the pads and the carrier. Do these just need cleaning or do they get replaced as well?
Never come across these before normally it's just the pads straight into the carrier after changing it up with a wire brush.

Do you mean like a thin flat but of metal that clips onto the back of the pads?

Or something different (if so I've not seen either).

Have you had a look through euro car parts or whatever to see if a new set also comes with them?

They're a separate item.

These

Sorry I've never seen anything like that.

Id imagine if you can buy them they are replaceable and it might not be the worst idea to replace them.

But I'm guessing mate.

You might get a more solid answer from someone else.

Surprised DIY mechanics have not seen these before, they are very common, depends on the caliper design.

1) No they don't always/often come with pads
2) Usually called a "Fitting kit"
3) Yes it's worth replacing them with new ones as they are only flimsy and can get bent about on disassembly
4) If you haven't got new ones, clean them up and put them back in, don't go without them!
