*** VR Deals Thread ***

Yeah, that swung it for me in the end. I bought the Steam version. Paid £8.70 as I owned one of the games they offered as a deal price.

Although I might end up buying it twice, as I very much like the flexibility of a stand alone headset.

im avoiding buying any games on meta now

PC-VR is the way for me, steam mostly

especially when we are all ditching Meta headsets when a decent other headset comes out
Pretty much the same here. It does mean I will probably have to buy some games twice so I can buy the DLCs (Walkabout, Beat Saber etc) but I'm pretty much done with Meta for buying games.

Are we? What decent, affordable headset, with wireless, is coming out that everyone is switching to? Deckard? That's going to be at least £1000, probably more than that because of tariffs. And we still don't know when or even if it's actually coming. Pimax Dream Air SE? That's going to be close to £1000.

I can't think of any other headset coming out that we are all going to be switching to?

And the other thing, I like been able to play games away from my computer. It's very handy to be able to pick up a headset and play without having to go to the room where the PC is. Sometimes I am away from home and it's been really good to have games on my headset and be able to play. Personally I don't want to give that up. And I don't want to pay £1000 to not have that option.

indeed. whilst it seems to be popular to hate on meta, the truth is they are the only company to really push vr at all. other companies have made decent headsets, possibly even better ones, but a headset without games to run on it is an expensive paperweight.
Yes admittedly I wish they had stuck more with PCVR but without meta VR would have gone the way it did the previous times imo.

and yes HLA is superb.... but one title isn't gonna save the industry....
so I would say the safe money is on meta IF VR is to survive, then with other niche headsets for those who want something a little different.

but as disappointed as I am with valve, I am really cheesed off with MS and Sony. they totally let the side down with VR imo.

Sony really dropped the ball with PSVR2. No backward compatibility and a lack of first party titles.
Plus I have no idea why people think it's such a good headset. It's one of the worst I've ever tried due to the tiny sweet spot, awful mura, and general blurryness and smearyness.

Augmented Empire

i picked up Table Troopers

i already own most of those titles i listed tbh excluing Puzling places addons

i was tempted with (edit but didnt get):

Ghost Town - will wait to get it on PC

Mindset

UBOAT: The Silent Wolf - as a star trek bridge crew alternative maybe

Spatial Ops - i like the idea i just dont have the space to properly play as intended

Tactica - Internet connection required puts me of some what.. bu tis cheap

Bought, mentioned a couple already......

Trenches VR (Steam) - perhaps get it also at some point on Meta
Spatial Ops
Tactica
Augmented Empire
Table Troopers

Not sure about having the ideal room and space requirements for Spatial Ops, but it does read to be good.

@LostCorpse Let us know if you get the chance to try Mindset, kinda put off from the reviews.

Cheers

I am a little limited with my VR, until I have an OP, that should improve things to allow me to play more.

Tested a little of the Trenches game.....

EDITED due to the previously noted issues being resolved by the dev in the patch noted below. This leaves us, imo, with a mightily fine game that certainly seems to raise the tension bar, perhaps I might get further in this one than Alien Isolation, I would spend waaaaay too much time hiding in lockers.

As noted, limited time to play, but see good value in this one.

I had been chatting with the Dev using DM in Discord. I provided videos and a lot of feedback about issues noted with the game, Trenches.

He was most responsive and has now pushed an update to try and resolve the concerns raised.....

Re :

Toy Monsters

worth a small read from Devs:

Oh my, so sad and frustrating. I briefly tried the game, having bought it, well one of our grandchildren did the testing, and very much enjoyed how it played.

Not sure why sales are what they seem with Meta, maybe SteamVR as well.

The big issue is discoverability. When Meta curated the store it was easy to find good games. Since Meta has stopped curation and also flooded the feed with Horizon content it's become difficult to find decent new releases.

Also the search feature doesn't work properly and even if you know the name of the game you're looking for it doesn't always come up in a search.

That is so very right. So many gems are no doubt not well promoted, it reminds me a little of Amazons layout for the Prime TV content, compared to that of Netflix.

It almost gives me the impression that Meta see such devs and games / apps secondary to their continued push for Horizon focussed content.

Some have played "Homeless" and enjoyed that using UEVR......(£2.94)

Adjustments needed to get the best from it. Some noting a fish bowl effect, in its visual design.
More to read over at Discord.

I have not tried it, at this point. Just grabbed it though.
