Ordered a MINI 13 from Amazon the other day, just received it a hour or so ago, man, this thing is immaculate and came with the latest iOS 26 on it! Also with 91% battery health (although I was previously contemplating a new battery install anyway).

Will mess about with it for the next day or two to see if it will hold up to my modest usage as my daily driver and will possibly then be selling on my iPhone 16 Pro.

Pfft, that’s not mini. I’ve still got my iPhone 5 in my drawer. Still fully functional although the screen replacement I did years ago let some dust in.

I don’t think we’ll ever see smartphones that size again.

It's a phone, in what world do you need more than 60Hz :P All that does is rinse your battery more for the sake of it.

I use my phone all the time, so like many were happy to pay for a better experience. The smoothness of the UI and particularly browsing is dramatically better to my eyes with the higher refresh rate screens. I have a 13 Mini here too and it feels like a slideshow in comparison. I think different people are affected more or less by it but I’m a long time gamer and it bothers me so I’d pay more for that (as I did for the 16 Pro).

I haven’t noticed any issues with battery, quite the opposite to be honest.

I find that very hard to believe for a phone UI, 60Hz is certainly not 30Hz, which is what I'd consider a reasonable comparison to a slideshow, not 60.
IOS has always ran nicely on pretty much every iPhone - bar when you push your luck years and years later, trying to run a modern IOS version from a brand new phone on a fairly older model.

Nagivating a phone is hardly comparable to say playing competitive FPS, where you'd clearly benefit/notice 120/144/165Hz and above.
Granted it will obviously be smoother than 60, there's no denying that, but to compare 60Hz to a slideshow is a stretch.

It just seems like another fad to sell phones, just like the OTT branded 'gamer' scene tax priced stuff in the PC/console scene, that they clearly market for kids to fall into the trap of.

Either way, each to their own :) If you like it and feel that it really is that much of a jump, and want to pay the extra, fair play to you :)

As I said in another post on here recently, I wouldn't mind an iPhone 4S-sized device, but with the newer form factor (i.e. thin bezels, Face ID). I find my 13 mini to be okay size-wise, but wouldn't say no to a slightly smaller one :)

The thing is, I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority, because I only use my mobile phone for fairly basic purposes - namely, phone calls, messaging, reading the occasional email, checking my diary, sat nav and listening to music in the car, and minor banking jobs (for anything more serious, I'd rather use a computer). I find web browsing awful on mobile phones, so if I want to do that, I'll either use an iPad or a computer.

It’s night and day between 60-120 on a phone screen. Especially the ui, while scrolling etc.
Fair enough, I'll have to try it and see what the fuss is all about then :)
All I was saying, was 60 is still smooth. But I agree that it can get better, I just don't think it's needed; I certainly take additional battery life over twice the Hz, but each to their own :)

Pretty much setup the new MINI. Just got to transfer the Apple Watch to it and swap the sim.

Loving it so far, much more suitable as im not a power user anyways..

problem with used, refub / renewed iphones is that sometimes they have a non Apple replacement screen and or battery which are inferior to the originals.

they just hope the new owner does not notice

well. unfortunately things aren't working out as planned with the 13 MINI.

The battery life is much worse than I anticipated, which is a shame as its a great phone, condition, all original etc..

Sending back and going to the other end of the spectrum. iPhone Air.

I’m pretty consistently getting a good 10 hours screen on time with 30-35% left in the battery. Ymmv of course.

Edit. With the air.
