A House of Dynamite [Netflix]

I liked it as far as it went, but I feel like the message was a bit infantile and narrow minded. If you feel in need of closure at the end and haven't already watched it I'd recommend following it up with a watching of Paradise.

Not one to watch if you want something to happen.

I thught it was great. Great cast, well used the tension really worked and there were a few good emotional pay offs. I don't see how you end it better than they did without making it a different film.

Id prefer any of my below endings

1. It was a training excessive
2. It was a dud and didn't detonate
3 . It wiped out California killing the 9+ million people , then the president launched nukes at NK & Russia who then launch at the US. With the ending zooming out seeing those parts of the world total destroyed.

Idris has put on some weight, that was the highlight for me. It was so unrealistic, the US president wasn't a racist, egotistic, Wotsit faced moron.
I know you didn't like it, but part of the sheer terror for me watching this was imagining the same scenario but with Trump, Hegseth and all the other unqualified loons etc in those moments.

Idris and the wife were clearly trying to capture the obama feel....basketball et al

Completely ****** ending, it's like they just welched out on how to end it, the film started with about 15 minutes to a potential apocolyptic (sp?) event, and 2 hrs later it was still 1 minute from that event. Was it a dude, was it AI testing everyone, was it a rogue nation. If you review what happened, exactly no decisions of any value were made by those in command. It just showed what we all know, they will try to shoot it down and then all the key people go to a bunker. A piece of theatre with no conclusion. I generally don't watch a film that expects me to finish the story myself.

I suspect many like me would consider it a cinematic event that had a build up bujt ended with no 3rd act, and hence an unsatisfying conclusion.

i think that's kinda the point of the film though - if it happens we're likely doomed and not much anyone can do hence the increasing panic across the various departments, and other governments.

4/10 just because its anti climatic after building tension for the whole movie....

they shoulda done a film about the russian guy who didn't launch nukes, woulda been far more interesting

they basically stretched 15 minutes into the films length with 0 pay off for watching

First act was amazing, been a long time since I focused on a film at home like fhat for a long time, the sense of jeopardy reminded me of when I watched first man for the first time. It did fall off in the second and third act was quite disappointing, but overall 7/10.

2 hours wasted. Nothing happened. Usual Netflix big budget crap. 3/10

If episode 2 isn't out next week, then this is some epic trolling. I didn't mind the 2 repeats of what we had already seen, if it actually led somewhere.

Ultimately at its heart it is an anti-nuclear proliferation message hence the title and ending, but an infantile one which seems to ignore the reasons and why and blames the audience for the situation and somewhat obliquely but berating the audience for being stupid so just existing with it rather than changing it - ignoring the force of circumstances, etc.

I'd say it was fairly average. I though the first third was great and had me totally hooked, then it went down hill from there and I started to lose interest. The ending was a bit disappointing, but not really sure if any of the alternatives would have been better either.

Problem is the other two thirds were the same story told 2 more times, with barely any extra details added in imo.

The whole story happened over about 30 minutes in realtime and they just recycled that from 3 different camera angles.

Thought it was too open ended. Also the lady operator activated the countermeasures through a mouse click??
