Seen mentions of the situation popping up over some news sites for a while now but holy cow it just seems to be an absolute mess. Not to be confused with the genocide from the early 2000s.

Long-short of it is potentially over 100k civilians massacred by Arab ethnic groups against other ethnic groups (mainly black and Christian). UAE potentially have a hand in it but look to be avoiding any level of investigation and justice because of who they're friends with, oh and the fact that they told the ICJ to do one. Currently listed as the worlds largest hunger and displacement crisis.

The big problem though...nobody seems to give a crap or is doing anything to intervene. The US have made some noise about it happening and started firing out sanctions but that's pretty much it.

Where are the protests? Where are the marches? Where are the activists? Where are the multitude of governments making statements? Best our lot have managed is Cooper asking politely for a ceasefire.

I started reading a bit about it a while ago and it all did seem like a huge mess. No obvious good solution.

What would people actually protest for? Any official intervention by western countries would almost certainly generate some catastrophic headlines about imperialism and proxy wars etc and numerous unintended casualties. Countries like Russia aren't so bothered by things like that though so they've been happily supporting the RSF...

Seems like the only sustainable solution would be for neighbouring countries to intervene, but none of them really in a position to do so atm

Relatively small amounts of aid and some general toothless diplomacy seems about all we can realistically do for now

That's what Wagner are doing fomenting local wars and wishing western intervention.

It seems like the Sudanese government were more than happy to let the RSF do it's dirty work for them but now their attack dogs have turned on it's master. This is what happens when you enable genocidal groups they become emboldened and more blood thirsty.

Kind of the point actually. Where is she? Where are all the politicians in the UK that have spent 2 years banging on about Gaza?

They only do it if it financially benefits them, not out of the kindness of their hearts.

One of the OSINT sources I use has loads of photos and videos - not going to watch/look at them but even from the thumbnails and comments can tell it is bad.

General rule of thumb: if it's sub-Saharan, it's a lost cause. There's no fixing it.

There's so many bodies they can see them from space.
