YouFibre

Struggled to get a decent deal from VM so time for a change and Youfibres Black Friday 2Gb seemed like a deal, just been set up.

Now to figure out how to plug it in to my network so my proper machines can use it...... I guess as I have a phone line I need to use their hub?

They can supply a device for your phone that plugs into a ethernet port so you can use your own kit. Like a lot of things with their support it may take a few goes at getting it sent out.

Yes, you are right. CF would be ok but VM... I think I'd leave. I can imagine getting a call from them saying we told you you'd come back! :D
I was slightly hesitant going from my Zen 1Gb/100Mb to YouFibre as the Zen service was genuinely that good. If there is a glimmer of VM I'll be moving back.

Well at least with VM you might get customer service, my experience with YouFibre this far has been rubbish, no response to support chats etc. VM were at least responsive.

The internet is decent but if I can't get answers to simple phone setup questions how is it going to be when there is something up.

I really hope the Virgin Media/O2 takeover talk doesn't come to anything, to me it doesn't make sense for them buy YouFibre. I honestly can't see any upside to the deal for Virgin Media/O2 with the amount of network overlap there would be.

I think it makes much more sense if CityFibre buyout was to happen, a lot less network overlap and would actually see them grow in scale as a company. Apparently according to ISP Review the talks had actually reached the due diligence stage until Virgin Media/O2 came along.

Well still not successfully had any support from Youfibre, **** poor, worse than VM.
If you're having serious issues with YouFibre support get in contact with Jeremy Chelot on twitter/x @JeremyChelot

Yes the support is poor, I’ve had to contact them multiple times to get through to someone that knows what they are doing and that was for me to pay more for a faster service.

Also starting to get peak time contention. Looks more a peering link to Europe that isn’t going via linx rather than traffic shaping, should have taken a note of the ip where the slow down starts. They are probably regretting letting a lot of customers upgrade to 2Gbps for very little over 1 Gbps.

The Youfibre branded Sagecom routers are also poor, I wanted to try it for the Wifi7 however it’s crashed 3 times in 5 days rebooting itself. Also got a bug where if you change the IPV6 DNS server it adds the new one to DHCP but continues to also advertise it own DNS IP so it stops my ad blocking from working properly (IPV4 works fine only advertising the manually added DNS server)

I've just tried to submit a support ticket, it comes back with network error, so no idea if I have sent one or not, the whole experience is terrible.

At least you got through to some one, phone just wrang off for me and no one answered live chats.

I only want to know the solution for using yourphone on your own network without their router so I don't have to have two routers running.

I suspect I will cancel the service and go back to VM, it works and is ultimately cheaper, I don't need the bandwidth, the reduced latency with less jitter is nice though but hey life was fine without it.

Or I will cancel Yourphone and use a VOIP provider with my ATA, assuming I can actually get through to someone to cancel......

I think that's probably VM/o2's take on it too, though... It enables them to reduce competition and acquire customers. They're wanting to move to a full fibre network anyway, so it helps them switch across customers without build out?

That said, I really hope that it doesn't come to anything too!

Have you tried the live chat on the youfibre app? Check you haven't got any ad blockers enabled if you're using live chat as that can sometimes stop it working. Although you are likely to speak to someone outside the UK on it.

Yup, I have actually missed a rep on the app but only because after an hour and a half I went to make some tea, of course they would respond then.

I keep getting the how did we do emails too, like I actually spoke to some one, 1 stars all the way, I'd give less if I could.
