bought an air dust blower

I cannot clean the inside of my PC very well, having only the use of my right arm and hand, and my computer had gotten really dusty, so I bought an epic corded Air blower. It's mental, like a hair dryer on steroids. I went for corded, instead of cordless battery power becase I CBA with having to charge one, and I was presuming that a corded one would be more powerfu l(it is)
had to have mum open the case, and hold fans to stop them spinning like crazy, and breaking, and just blew out the inside of my computer for 30 mins
Pretty dammned spotless now!
Got the front fans to do, but should have done them first with the top fans/rad because it will only blow dust into the PC, but live, and learn.

Was also thinking it might break something.

Got A Wolfbox MF50 a few weeks ago, cant believe how good they are for a cordless, you could use it as a leaf blower !!

yup, I learned the hard way once, after hoovering a fan to death with a Henry Hoover, it squealed like a pig at the time, terribly satisfying, but yeah, ofc the fan was dead afterwards

I've also seen it mentioned that it can also produce a charge back to the motherboard, not sure if that's true, but not hard to imagine?

yeah basically it's a generator.

I just replaced the fan, plugged it in, booted up, and everything was fine.

It does, I used a Dyson to vacuum an LED fan years ago, and the lights went bright until it fried itself. Later on I did a test with a multimeter and the fan was generating voltage down the pins so it's probable it can cause damage depending on what it's plugged into.

If you're lucky the motherboard manufacturer might have included a protective Zener diode to cap the voltage to the fan header(s), but I certainly wouldn't bank on them doing that!

yeah I wouldn't risk it. I just pop a zip tie or a pencil between the fans when I do get the duster out. Better to be safe

When using the blower? It'd help if you use it, sometimes the air turbulence makes bits resonate which can get ultra loud. Dust mask would be a good thing though depending on how much build up you have

I job for the garden ideally. That, or dust regularly.

I bought the Oneway branded blower on rainforest and tbh it's perfect for cleaning out pcs, air conditioners etc, plenty powerful and the batteries (3x2000mah I believe) last well.
Given I'd take whatever needs cleaned outside, corded wouldn't work for me. I did see the Wolfbox afterwards but happy with this one.

Definitely. Even in the garden I'd dust it downwind as I've seen what you can still breathe in not wearing a mask outside after sawing some wood. Probably not as harmful as the wood particles but I definitely get a sore throat/cold sometimes when exposed to filter collected dust too much.
