*** The Official iOS and iPadOS 26 Thread ***

I don’t like the redesign of Safari on iPhone or iPad. I’ve been using exclusively iPad and iPhone whilst moving house, and on the iPhone 13 Mini 90% of the time when managing tabs I close the app to my Home Screen when swiping up from the tabs and on the iPad if I want to ‘click’ a different tab I have to either scroll up a bit or click the small url bar which scrolls my page up to the very top to see the tabs. Both very annoying. Using the Smart Keyboard on the iPad I can use keyboard shortcuts but that’s not the point.

I find on my iPad that if I tap next to the url bar and not the very top, then that shows the tabs and doesn’t scroll right to the top. Annoying having to be so precise.

With the mouse at least, even being what looks to be super precise clicking in the very middle of the ‘forums.overclockers.co.uk’ part still takes it to the very top for me. No point me trying with my fingers as I’ve got the whole sausage finger situation going on.

Definitely just tapping that forums.overclockers part just brings up the tab bar and doesn’t scroll up for me! This is with finger input!

I found the cause, it’s because I don’t have Safari in full screen mode, if I use my finger or the mouse in full screen mode it works. Not ideal at all for my use case.

IOS 26 on iPad Pro (M4), the keyboards refuses to open up with txt dialogue boxed e.g. when trying to enter txt into search/Chrome/anything, it's driving me la la!

Does anyone else get the issue when you unlock your phone but the brightness is really dim, despite being at a really high setting? I can literally scroll the brightness down and back to where ti was, and the screen brightness shoots up.

Definitely the most buggy release I've ever encountered with Apple (15PM user)

So been using ios26 since it dropped and there is a definitive impact on battery life on my 13PM.

My daily usage hasn’t changed but I’m noticing battery draining faster. I’m getting to the end of the day with far less battery than before.

I’ve had the phone for just over 12 months. Refurbished but had 85% battery health at time of purchase.

It’s been 85% for a year but in the last couple days, dropped to 84%.

Rather annoying you need 2 actions to open a new tab in Safari. I'm constantly opening a new page and the older + tap option was better.
I gave up with this, you can change it back in settings.

Settings > Apps > Safari > scrool down to tabs and change it from 'compact' to 'bottom' or 'top' whichever you prefer - I went with bottom.

Thank god

So basically rolling back the whole main 'thing' of iOS26?

FINALLY!

After a decade or more of feeling like I've been screaming into the void, they finallly add a setting to disable camera access from the lock screen.

Every time I've mentioned this, people look at me like I'm mad but surely I can't be alone? Not only is it far too easy to accidentally swipe the camera open when putting my phone in my pocket but I'm frankly aghast that there's been no way to stop a random person from accessing the camera while the phone is locked.

iOS 26.1 is out

If like me your battery life has been rubbish since upgrading to 26, I suggest you try 26.1 as several people have said it significantly improves battery life especially 17 and 17 pro owners

The update is 14Gb though because Apple is bundling AI model changes in the update. I guess they can't update AI's models without rebuilding them

Apple reporters say the upcoming new AI Siri will use google's Gemini. Apple's reportedly dumping it's current Apple Intelligence model and will instead use Google's Gemini AI
