Want to buy a Porsche. How do I do that?

Can't see point of a supercar :-( Dad had a sports car that could o 155mph, he only blatted it a couple of times.

hell it's depressing looking at my 125 ccc scooter speedo 30mph knowing if I do a few more mph be some camera somewhere with 3/6 points.

Crazy isnt it, loads of epic roads here. I spent 4 days in Scotland, never saw a blue light or many pot holes. Same for parts of Devon and Cornwall.

Yep it is pick your moments and enjoy sensibly. :)
I properly enjoy my cars still and on UK roads.

...and a £45k car that was £145k comes with the latter's running costs.

This and if anything the running cost only increase and the consumables now cost more then they did when it was new and the labour rates and amount of trust worthy garages are higher and less. Worth every penny though!

Don't forget Wales - specifically the area near Llangynidir (Top Gear used to film here - the B4560), pretty much anywhere in Powys, the west near Aberystwyth, the south west near Cardigan. So many damn fine, good roads.

And we have plenty of excellent tracks to boot all across Britain!

Yup, I did a roadtrip their too. Epic

Buy one of these

Walk in to a Porsche dealership, point to the nearest one, and say

"I would look good in that , whilst holding your hand in like a gunshot stance, and then wink)"

That reminds me of you, when you buy a new BMW - you walk in with your OBD scanner in your hand, and say "That would look great being scanned on my driveway, how many times can I scan it a day until I flatten the battery? TAKE MY MONEY!"

Roads that are national speed limit seem fine I drive but I live on outskirts of Staffordshire on Cheshire border, the fun roads generally seem well kept, can certainly enjoy them and Wales is only around an hour away for me and I often go their for weekend drives which are always truly epic.

I am also only 20-30 minutes drive from Peak District more truly epic roads and Scotland is just a few hours away, done two trips this year, sensational, also the Northern border are epic as well and get into Scotland and the roads are your playground if you stay of tourist routes.

So yeah why I still own sports and supercars, always finding plenty of opportunities to enjoy them and if you want true maximum speed enjoyment book a track day or catch a ferry to Isle of Man or Spain, bloody epic roiads and never had issues doing properly big speeds. :)

Good!! Did you manage to visit the black mountain road, north of Brynamman? I hope you did as it's all average speed now. A great road lost.

@Gibbo have you ever ventured to Cymru? You should if you haven't.

To be honest pretty much done entirety of Wales now never had an issue and always truly enjoy whatever I've been in which has been a mix of Caterham 420R, Clio 182 Trophy, Alpine A110S, GR Yaris, Cayman R, Audi R8, McLaren 600 LT, Porsche GT3, Porsche GT4, Porsche Spyder, Ferrari 458, Ferrari 360, everyone has been a truly memorable drive.

Always remember once driving my Caterham back from Abyerstworth sorry for butchering the spelling but I dropped on a B road, not another car in sight and the red mist dropped, good job the road was empty as I was absolutely flying but what an adrenalin fuelled drive, think my only drive in the Caterham which topped that was flat out around Donington Park GP in it, but even then only marginally as always feels so much quicker on a narrow b road and pulling out of junctions with the rear tyres totally lit and full on sideways like a maniac, in fairness I did 3000 miles in the Caterham, that is a lot of road miles in a Caterham and I'd only be doing those road miles in a Caterham if it was fun, because on a regular busy road or motorway that car was no fun at all, thankfully I am rural with lots of narrow national speed limit lanes on my door step, perfect for a Caterham been so small.

So yeah people who say you cannot enjoy a car in UK, rubbish!

In the past Porsche would tell you to do one if you don't have history of buying brand new not so exciting models from them.
However Porsche bubble has truly burst now on their new models, even the GT cars and even some RS models.

So here in the UK if you wanted to buy brand new it is now possible without buying history, you have to ring round all the dealerships and see if one has a spare allocation or believes they can get you a car. In the UK if they believe they can get you a GT3 they request a £10,000 refundable deposit, probably similar in NZ, so first step ring round all the dealers, you may get lucky.

If that fails then consider buying q 6-12 month old one from a specialist, not sure on market in NZ but try to avoid paying overs as those times are over now on Porsche apart from the very exclusive RS models potentially, though here in UK Porsche has got Spyder RS coming out there ears and its quite easy to buy and spec one brand new at moment.

Alternatively buy a 992.1 GT3, plenty of approved used about and still a fantastic car that you can now get for fair money and not pay overs.

If your not fixed on a Porsche, for 175k there is far more exciting road cars you can buy to be honest, but particular older stuff, newer stuff really is just a numbers a game now and has lost a lot of what makes driving fun.
really, thought the gt3 rs was truly a ' how many porsches have you bought, and specifically with us (specific dealer), and if it's less than £1m, you get shown to the door

GT3 RS going to be a harsh ride and wouldn't call an everyday car. 911 Carrera 4S will give you fun, but still be safer or safer than standard rwd if not used to it). I do like the porshe 911 S/T though in heritage blue (Shore blue) though..think it'd nbe a much softer ride.

@mags...sure you want a low riding car...my colleauge has a 911..have to say, I'm getting on a bit now(mid 50's), and bugger if I want to get in and out of such a low slung car as an everyday driver..bad enough in my mini

Side note, my brother in law just emigrated to NZ and just bought thenew Toyota Prado fully specced, and came in a lot cheaper than buying in the UK. OP really need to look at his mkt also. I'm in dubai and a bog standard Audi Q3 S line 35 (150ps) will set you back £52k here, £10k more than in the uk...some brands are just a rip off depending where you live

I was talking GT3 and Spyder RS, I have no brand new Porsche buying history and we were both offered brand new Spyder RS to spec, only think we could not get was a PTS colour choice. In the end I kept my 600 LT and my mate purchased as 600 LT as well because in his words he thought the Spyder RS was the one, until he drove my 600 LT Spyder, he now owns his own 600 LT Spyder and in his words it has made his 718 GT4 feel like crap and no longer wants a GT3 which he was offered a new slot on a 992.1 GT3 a few months back, 992.2 he has not tried as does not want but at same time also has no buying history.

992 GT3 RS however still does require buying history of 1M+ but before this was even case for GT4 RS and Spyder RS when first announced and regular GT3, but its easier now to potentially get one, except for GT3 RS.

For me a 992 GT3 RS just is useless as a road car, too harsh and no frunk so cannot really do an EU trip, same issue with Lamborghini Huracan STO, storage in a car is important.

NZ must be one of few markets where a sports / supercar is cheaper than UK as UK is one worlds cheapest for second hand supercars.

 genuinely lol'd

Cash in one hand, OBD in the other

He probably begged the dealership to sell him the battery life support machine, that's used when coding/scanning, so you don't drain the battery/kill modules ;) :D
