Anyone using this?

I'm with Smarty(Three) and a few places i visit often, Llandudno and Tenby in wales give me very patchy to zero signal, i looked at swapping provider but then home coverage might be patchy. So Smart SIM would seem to be perfect but does it work in practice, doesnt seem bad for £3.75 a month on top of my £6 a month for Smarty.

Depends what you use it for. Looks like their smart sim only provides data, and only to the apps that they list.

Just had a look at their classic sim and it's quite on the pricey side unless you pay for 3 years upfront.

Oh also as with typical marketing, it's only £3.75/mth if you sign up for 12 months. Which isn't great if you want to test the thing to confirm it'll work for you.

Thats all id need it for, Parking apps, Banking Google Maps that sort of thing.

Looks like it uses all 4 3 networks. Should work but it also assumes EE and/or O2 offers better coverage than Smarty on 3/Vodafone. Might want to have a look at their coverage maps to get a rough idea how it compares.

Am I to assume on the smart sim the data only works on the apps they've specified?

Won't work for any other apps? Can't find anything on their website about data allowances.

Unlimited on those apps, all the main ones are covered.
Yeah I understand that but YouTube is not on there for example. Would that only work if you had another sim or was on Wifi? No data allowance apart from unlimited on the selected apps?

Yep, you would need another SIM/Wifi. It's only meant to be a backup e-sim to use alongside your normal one. It's really only useful for those with bad coverage. For the other 99% of the population, it's pointless as it's complete trash being limited to apps, there are loads and loads not on the list.

Not surprising. Without looking I imagine other video streaming apps wouldn't be on there either. Their business model is catered to lower data use apps, ideally for backup/emergency if you find yourself somewhere with iffy signal.

Having commit to the 12months is a deal breaker for me, as others said I'd lobe to try it out for a month but not at £10

My thought exactly.
I might try just swapping to 1pmobile they seem to get great reviews, looks better coverage than three in Wales where I normally struggle.
WiFi calling is supported so that covers me at home.

I have 1pmobile as my main as EE are consistently the best network across the highlands. 1p are well priced and it just works.

However for the very rare case that EE don't have coverage, I have a 4 network data only sim

Strangely, it hasn't expired despite being about 18 months since I bought it...

Just signed up, £10 for 50GB isn't terrible, i have been fine on a 12GB £6 smarty plan for ages now.
Only downside seems to be 1p/minute for voicemail that's not included in the free minutes. I'll just disable voicemail so no one leaves me any. But coverage in the main places i use is either the same or better than Three.
