Predator: Badlands

7/10 maybe a bit less on eventual second viewing.

A bit silly, a bit funny and a bit violent. Enjoyed it but it didn't feel too much like a predator film.

Maybe a bit too much humour. A bit too much Weyland Yutani for me but maybe that's just cos Alien Earth was so recently.

Edit: the predator talking was only subtitled in Spanish in my showing. But the story was so basic it didn't really matter too much.

Wasn't expecting anything from another Predator movie but it seems like there's a fair amount of hype around this one. I liked Prey so I'll probably check this one out some time.

As an action movie, it's decent 6/10, but as Predator movie, not so much. They could have got Jason Statham to replace the Predator, and it would still have worked in this story.

Hmm. I’ve been hearing mixed reviews but it does look fun. I will probably wait until it’s on streaming platforms for a reasonable price to watch this.

A pretty solid action flick, right up there with Prey for me. I didn't know about all the W-Y stuff beforehand but given how much franchise crossover that has happened in the past it's not that surprising. I'd agree they pushed it a little too much and the movie would have worked equally without it.

Pg13 for a predator movie. Jesus wept.
The originals are 15 uncut in the UK now and we tend to treat blood, guts and violence slightly more harshly than the Americans (who take the sight of a bare boob as horrific)...

As I said earlier in the thread, there is a good reason it's not a 15, and it's a very simple one :) (and makes total sense in terms of the story/location).

I really liked this and humour was fitting with the theme. I liked that for someone who is not into the comics it gives a bit of back story to the predators. For me its predator 1, Then Prey then this.

I watched it last night and it was ok. It wasnt so much a Predator film but a film with some Predators in it. Was pretty toned down and definitely going towards the comics route.

6.5/10

I would say Predator, Predator 2, Predators, This and then the rest of the garbage.

My order.

Predator, Predator 2, Badlands, Prey, Predators..............followed far behind by AVP, AVP2 or The Predator in any order you like.

It was ok but wasnt a Predator movie that i would probably watch again. I can and have watched Predator, Predator 2 and Predators many times.
I literally cannot watch AVP.

I mean it, I can't watch it.
I can hear it, but most of the film basically feels like they could have just run the camera in a locked room with no lights for how much you can make out of what is going on*.
I'm half joking, but trying to watch that film requires me to do it at about midnight in December, with the blackout curtains pulled and every light source in the room off (the LED indicator for the NTL box or the Blu-ray player is almost blinding by comparison to some scenes).

*Apparently a deliberate decision to reduce the costs of the VFX, as if the screen is nearly completely black and the creators are black, you don't need to spend so much money on the CGI etc (both Alien and Aliens** managed to do dark scenes and have it so you could make sense of what was going on, and they had relatively speaking tiny budgets IIRC).

**Who even succeeded in making the relatively grainy IIRC film stock that was new/in development work to make the film better and give it a good look (IIRC they got it cheap because it was being tested and a lot of the grain is because the low light performance of the film wasn't as good as some of the other film stocks that had been around for a while but cost more).

I don't think I've seen AVP.
