iDrive Upgrades

I have a 2016 BMW F06 with NBT Evo iD5. Reading online, this should be upgradable to iD6 via USB and can be purchased from the Bay. Has anyone any experience of this?

Not done it on any car I've owned but be very careful of what you buy off eBay, I personally know a couple of people who have had massive issues searching a 'cheap' fix and they can lead to costly repairs, one of my mates completely 'bricked' his ECU

Not BMW (yuk) but my A6, I've used an ebay update for the maps and to install Apple/Android carplay - worked absolutely fine. I think it was around £50, came on a couple of SD cards - one for the firmware, one for the software.

VAGCOM knows though as it comes up with an error every time telling me about it - other than that, it works absolutely fine...

My 2017 m140i had id5, but it was nbt evo (so professional or whatever).

That meant it could be ‘coded’ as they say to id6. Which was nice, it was quite the visual improvement.

I don’t think the base id5 can be changed to id6… the ones with the tiny secreen.

I used a tool called ESYS and an Enet cable.

There are 'cheatsheets' online for the different classes of cars, E F G, etc. which can help with knowing what to change and where. In my case it was an F20 (5dr 1 series).

It was a coding change? I assumed I would need to upload a large image file via USB. Or did you do this with the software?
