AM5 build black friday £2000 max

All in basket. Pulling the trigger now as I might not upgrade if prices go any higher. Still the best RAM with current price? I haven’t added a psu as I can repurpose the superflower for now and upgrade later if it gives trouble. And any recommendations for thermal paste?

Still the best RAM for the price, there's a slightly cheaper EXPO kit but the Crucial runs at those speeds stock AFAIK.

If you're re-using the Noctua from your old rig there's no need to replace it. You're good to go already for a 9800X3D.

You could step down to a 7800X3D and 9070 non-XT and still get very good performance, to free up some funds elsewhere. Personally, I'd be happy with keeping the G7.
Definitely upgrade time. Keeping things as suggested above. 9800x3D with a 9070xt. Selling the Xbox so that should reduce upgrade cost even further!

I believe the C36 kit still needs XMP, otherwise it is 5600 C46. The C48 kit doesn't need XMP.

Noted. Still, it's what I'd go for right now for the difference of a tenner either way. Even if it can't hit EXPO speeds with an X3D it hardly matters, but I find that very unlikely.

More of a scramble to get some RAM before half decent 32gb sets end up being £200+.

I doubt it'll have any problems enabling XMP, but yeah, not a huge deal if it can't.

RAM right now, has me imagine hover over the button, while the price increases by £1 every minute. Nobody that wants a PC needs sleep.

It's ridiculous mate, I've seen more than one 64-96gb set over a grand at this point and they're not even super high end.

the kit ive got waiting for the last few am5 parts to arrive was either 350 or 360 ish a month or so ago its now pretty much sold out everywhere other than the bolton place i think its known as and its 1079 quid or something insane now
edit because it was 350-360 ish not 460 ish that would be a wide range even i should be able to remember more accurate than that much of a gap lol it was 359 i think or something

It's genuinely nuts, if I wanted to build a workstation right now for home work I'd literally change career instead. :p

Scalpers getting on act now too unfortunately, just making it worse. Unfortunately manufacturers are wary of spending billions on increasing supply after the crypto bubble which left them with a huge oversupply problem from doing just that. Also, with black fri, this is when a lot of people look at tech etc, so a little demand bubble for consumers too, and buying is all dynamic now (like airline tickets, so price pushes higher if buying continues). I expect it will calm down, but prob not till after Xmas now from what I've read, ai has locked in about as much production as possible.any more and the consumer % gets to low

Well im glad I ordered last night. No more stress. The only thing I was doubting was an x870 board (gigabyte one is similar price but has more USB external) but then again, I dont go connecting all USB C cables externally. Just debating what I should do when ive built the new PC. Clean install on the 512gb nvme and games on 2tb nvme? Or bring all hard disks to new build and move games folder to 2tb?

i have a 2tb sn850x for wondows...put work etc on there. Bought a 4tb nm790 for games now..so steam/xbox/ubisoft a/c's all on there...far happier doing it that way than last build where just had it all mixed together on the one drive...

I might go down 512gb nvme for boot, 2tb for games and 3tb sata hdd for storage. Will upgrade the 512 to a bigger drive when prices settle. I’ll probably use this opportunity to organise my files and do a fresh install. Loads of ASUS bloatware on current drive.
