Aquiss

Noob question, Aquiss has static IP address, is this something you have to request if you want one?

Im looking on my routers Eero app and under WAN type PPPoE is selected and there is another option for static IP. Can I choose this over using PPPoE?

Im just curious really I don't have any need for a static IP.
Its not something you need to set at your end at all just their end, From their portal thing services -> my services -> choose your broadband, then on left is a change options button. Should be able to enable it there, might need to reboot your router to grab the static ip if its different than your current one.

Ah ok, so it's not something I would have automatically? its something I would need to request and they sort it?

I did mine years ago but from memory no its not enabled by default, but its basically a tick box in that menu to enable it. Not sure if its instant or what though, for most people I guess its not needed so no point enabling by default. And if you did have it by default you wouldnt need any changes on your router anyway it would just get the same ip on every reboot.

I got mine automatically, and it shows in Configurable Options as:

IPv4 Addresses
1 Static IP

The address is then shown in the circuit info tab. I think all of the packages come with a static IPv4 and IPv6 address. At least they do on the packages nowadays.

Yeah I noticed that earlier, when I checked.

Might not leave at this rate, looks like Plusnet strike1, failed to setup account phone us. Tried 45 minute wait, no thanks. They can either phone me and sort it or I'll just stay with Aquiss. Maybe it's a sign.

Oh I thought you had left already. Im sure Plusnet are fine once all set up. Its just that Aquiss customer service is so good for any potential issues.

I couldn't help but compare and thought it'd be so easy to leave a ticket and would probably be sorted within an hour at Aquiss.
I've left a comment on their forum, see what happens.

If the order hasn't gone through I'm definitely not going to try again. I think going forward of a provider doesn't even allow email contact it's a no go.
Zen are my backup priced in between Aquiss and Plusnet but they offer email and webchat at least. Lesson learned so far cheap for a reason.

Just joined Aquiss this week. Switching from Zen who managed to mangle the one touch switch by insisting they had no account at my address (turned out they wanted the account number as well which isn't part of the standard data needed). Had Martin P calling me on Friday AM to explain and I was able to get it sorted. Presumably the CEO having time to call means there aren't that many problems (or he's running the whole thing out of his bedroom ). Fibre install is on 2nd. Can't wait as rural broadband has been left behind until now!

Ended up going with Idnet, Zen in all but name and don't force me to store a router for them.
Not heard from Aquiss yet, thought it was standard to send something out about moving.

You may want to check your spam folder, as we did email you at 26/11/2025, 15:25 to confirm departure ;)
Hi Martin. Nice to see you made it onto here. :) Just a little heads up, there's a four line limit on text signatures (and image size restrictions) here. You may wish to edit your signature before one of the Dons (mods) sees it and 'fixes' it for you. Welcome on board.

Nice to see you on here. Nothing came through, checked Junk, Spam and my bin just in case.
Be good if your pricing could some what batch others, I was happy on the 1st year deal basically £39 a month for 300mb, bit year two at £45 stings a bit when I now will be getting 500mb for £42.
I'd have stayed put if it was even £45 for 500mb. Maybe be back in the future, customer service was definitely as good as it gets.

Hello Martin, I am the guy with the stuck CityFibre order in Leicestershire, welcome

( this isn't me chasing you by the way :) )
