What "man jobs" have you done today?

Replaced the ancient doorbell camera with the Reolink POE version...

...then realised the wiring is just power from the mains, so I bought the mains-powered WiFi version.

...then discovered the WiFi version is poop, so I need to run approx 40m of ethernet cable, over the roof, from the switch on the opposite side of the house.

And my 10Tb NVR drive has died, so £300 to replace it.

Probably wait for Dad's will to be registered, before I get him round with the ladders.

As per my GD post, I failed to change the bathroom taps and run network cable to a new switch behind the TV. Tomorrow I will try not to fail at both of those, setting up a Tapo H500 (put an SSD into it today at least) and sorting out the doorbell, security light and many light bulbs.

Then I have to get my wife and daughter set up with the app for lighting too. Got to find out what lights I can put in my son's room.

I remember them being non-GU10 bulbs but something halogen and having individual transformer is in each fitting cavity. Hopefully they can be removed and replaced with GU10 fittings to easily add to the setup.

@DampCat if you enjoyed that I have a number of smaller stumps and roots that need dealing with :D.

5 of us cleaned out 6 cargo fuel tanks ready to load 3,000,000 litres of ULSD......
I wouldn't necessarily call it a man job but we were all male.... #shrug

Too wet to mess with wiring the floodlight or door cam today. Did get the replacement cat6 cable early enough to do a tidy up job running that and the cable to my daughter's room neatly to where they divert at the front room door.

Got the switch connected up and sat behind the TV stand with the Tapo H500 and PS5 connected. Then fitted and connected the bulbs for the living room, hall and landing before I had to stop. Got my wife setup on the app too.

Will get the upstairs rooms fitted with bulbs tomorrow but the rest will have to wait, as I said I will have a look at a friend's son's PC that he is having issues with. Should motivate me to sort mine out too.

I attempted to tidy me shed but then seemingly made it worse than it was. The rain and lack of light is making the whole experience a massive pain.

It's one of those horrible jobs that takes so much willpower and courage to start, because you know it's going to take forever!

I did the same with our integral garage in our old property - too narrow for the car, so it became a dumping ground for everything too big to keep in the flat.

It took an entire day just to get everything out on the drive, another day to sort through what was needed and what was for the tip, then two days to install racking (and repurposed Billy Bookcases), ready to put everything back in more organised way...

...which lasted the three weeks until the end of the summer holidays, when garden furniture, toys, paddling pools & barbecue bits etc got chucked back in.

Now we need to do the same in the new house, only everything is spread amongst 2 outdoor sheds and a massive cupboard/box room indoors.

Put the Xmas lights up round the house

Which necessitates 'the big ladder' coming out

My jobs today were to take the dog for a walk while the wife stayed in bed, took the dog to the vets for his thyroid review while the wife stayed in bed, took the dog to the groomers while she spent her time getting ready to go out with her mates for dinner. I have now got to take them to the restaurant and pick them up later because it's my turn to do the driving(the wife can't drive):(
And walk the dog later aswell
