Vaping

I know. Tobacco products have to be hidden behind a sliding door behind the counter in my local corner shop, yet vape sticks and liquids are on open display on the front of the counter next to the chewing gum and mix ups. Great encouragement for the kids.

Yeah I was really surprised about that. The containers are so small that they can easily be shoplifted by kids.

Daft, 18+ stuff should be out of reach, plus they've probably walked past a gazillion bottles of vodka and beer on the shelves on the way to the counter...

I saw that necro reply and just to add my bit 6 years later I've just had two mates in my house, both vaping and there is zero smoke and zero smell.
I can live with that even though I must have inhaled but nowhere as much as gigging in pubs/clubs since 1970 with secondhand smoke.

I've been vaping for over 12 years now - not had a single cigarette in that time. I've saved a fortune (I've spent a fair bit on high end gear, but nowhere close to what I'd have spent on tobacco), let alone the harm reduction...

...yes, I'd likely be healthier not vaping, but then the survivability of idiots around me would drastically decline ;)

Vaping helped me quit. I was a moderate smoker, usually favouring Marlboro, and after several failed attempts to quit, I switched to roll-ups as a compromise before moving on to vaping. I had plenty of arguments with loved ones, but nothing worked. The irony is vaping coming from a smoker, just never sat right with me.

The epiphany came one day at my local store for vape supplies when the guy at the counter simply said, non confrontationally and out of the blue, asked, “What are you doing?” I walked away shocked and quit on the spot.

Now, I keep a nicotine inhalator (sounds like a Terminator) for those low days.

Vaping helped me quit

Just picking up on this statement because there is one door I go through at the hospital that has got a great big display on it of one of our workers.
Her face is in full view with the words "I smoked for 35 years and now I've quit" which is a great advert for others.
I am not exaggerating when I say that since that day she will leave her office to go and vape.
Her schedule will be:
8am start work
8.30 vape
8.45 back in office
9.15 vape
9.30 back in office
10.00 vape and so on until the end of the day.
I've even asked her colleagues why they allow her to do half a days work every day and they just shrug their shoulders and won't talk about it.
It's comical how many people who vape think they have given up smoking, or technically perhaps they have.

I think they stink. Esp the fruity ones.

My mate was vaping in mine yesterday, zero smell.
My brother in law vapes on planes, coaches, pubs and even in his hospital bed, zero smell and zero smoke.
His coats, jumpers, hoodies etc all have a pocket very close to his mouth and he just leans down and vapes :)

So he's got ones which have been designed for sneaky indoor usage. Loads of people have the flavoured ones and yes they stink - like sugar clouds in the air

AFAIK they are normal but it's the liquid he uses which doesn't smell or leave a cloud.

Yeah I can't profess to be any sort of expert. Just think its a classic case of "this is the lesser of two evils" that has actually turned into "grass isn't always greener".

Well you're not wrong, we've seen an increase of vaping problems at our hospital but at the moment it's a fraction of smoking problems.
Who knows what's to come?

Not sure I can say successful as so far ended up back on the smokes (damn cheap tobacco abroad). But for me the only way i have manged to quit for a period is move to vape then lower the nicotine over a few weeks untill at 0 and lose interest.

IIRC it's the food colouring that creates the fake smoke, isn't it? Either way, you can buy vape juice that doesn't have a flavour nor fake smoke, so it'll work with whatever vape it's put in.

No the two main components in vape juice are vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol, VG is what mainly creates the cloud most places blend 70/30 VG/PG if you reduce the VG and increase the PG you get less clouds, the mix is only part of it how many watts you vape at is a large contribution, nicotine and flavorings make up a small percentage of the mix.

Thanks :)
Oh I see, I knew there was a mix of PG/VG, but I didn't realise it effected the smoke, I thought it was more to do with the thickness/how well it vapourises.
So is the food colouring just used to make the liquid a colour - pretty pointless if so

I don't get why people get vapes of all sorts of colours or flavour.

I love my nicotine but I want the least adulterated delivery system possible and I'm not going for the look of a steam train.

Not really seen many different colours. Most liquids are either clear or various shades of brown/tan/caramel kind of colour.

Flavours are what make it enjoyable. If they don't enjoy it, they'll go back to smoking fags.

Me neither, seems like a waste of materials/added cost, for nothing. I do wonder if it's something really stupid, to vaguely match the colour of tobacco
