Looks like we've just had the same issue too... our town council posted some information from Central Bedfordshire council about green (dry recycling) collections being suspended too. The contractor who treats the recycling waste has suspended their service with only one working day of notice.

On the run up to Christmas too, this is madness. There is word that they are trying to resolve this before next week, but not sure about that one.
Central Bedfordshire Council has told us recycling collections will resume from Monday 15th December, following the appointment of a new contractor.

Apparently, the previous contractor who treated dry recycling had a fire at their treatment facility, and they wanted to pass over the entire additional cost to the council.

Council:
"This would have been the new contract price and added millions of pounds in costs over the remainder of the contract. The contract we have protects the council in these circumstances and we do not agree to pay this additional amount. We are holding the contractor to account for this."

At least they were quick to turn this issue around, especially during this run up to Christmas. @Werewolf I wonder if your recycling collections pause was also related to this?

Cheers, yup central beds.

I wasn't expecting it to get fixed this fast, on the plus side it did give me an excuse to get a can crusher as I was expecting it to last past Christmas so I was sorting the card into one of our green bins to take to the tip, whilst crushing cans to maximise space in the orange bin.

Pre-ordered another large format mp3 of a 20yr old record!

Not released proper until February hence posting here instead of images of items i have purchased! Not entirely sure about the official AI video though!

Sweet. I just found 3900 pounds I didn't realise I had.
Its not like I won it or anything. It was in an old share dealing account. I thought I sold my holding and cashed out. Looks like I sold but didn't cash out.

It got moved onto a new platform and they are due to start charging. So I went to close the account and found the cash.

Nice

This morning I went back to my cold showers - I had let them lapse for a few weeks, lost my mojo for them. But now 1hr later I'm buzzing and ready to go  I had forgotten how great they were. Although it does take a little bit of effort!

I become quite philosophical on 4 McVitie's chocolate digestives with milk. I daresay a 5th might lead to a regrounding, but am willing to brave it

This is where you find out what you sold went up 500x and you could have been retired but instead you have £3900 :p

I don't want to check! But now I must!

Ah no, It was aviva. Which I already rebought.

I sold in old platform, went to withdraw, found my bank details were out of date, but I had to phone to update (yeah it was that clunky). Decided to do it later. Rebought in t212. And never got round to withdraw.

Old platform ceases to exist and moves to new provider.

New provider charges a fee. But free for 6 months.
Get an email that fees start being charged in January. Go to close account. Find "free" money!

Happy Xmas to me!

I spent the day Christmas shopping with my wife, and didn't find it a horrible experience, to my surprise. I normally get bored and grumpy after an hour, but it was ok. I was shocked when I talked to the guy in the second hand book shop in the market and he said I've been buying from him for about 30 years- had no idea it was that long.

The Lego shop is now rubbish- there are hardly any Technics kits now and most of those are branded car kits. Nearly all their stuff is crappy superheroes/ star wars and other similar nonsense.

MAKE LEGO GREAT AGAIN

Ahem. I can't stand most of what Lego produces now. Too much Lego Marvel Friends merch. Just given a massive yellow technic digger and I'm happy. Admittedly, I do have their Saturn V still boxed up which I've been meaning to make for the last 5 years (maybe longer).

Not sure if it's just this time of the year or a bit of (early) burnout but I just can't be bothered with work at the moment. Last few years I've taken any locum/freelance opportunity (on top of my usually 9-5 work) but at the moment I just f* it and want to sim race!

I've spent the day sorting some of the Christmas decorations out, including some musical cuddly toys, one of which repeats what you say to it and it turns out is rather good when you're on voice comms with friends playing a game, it confuses them when they hear a funny voice shouting stuff at them, still not quite as good as the old mcdonald's quacking duck on CS/TF2 voice comms.

I just remember I still have the Technics Merc truck!
I've got the old Pneumatic grab crane in the loft, probably 1992 or so, I think it's still got the box with it.
I suspect the pipes have all gone as I remember some of the first gen* pneumatics I had ended up with the pipes going brittle fairly fast

*IIRC the first gen had single pipes and a technic axel type bit for the ram, whilst the second gen had a more realistic metal looking ram rod and two pipes and was much more effective.

Ah, nothing beats the ancient Technic 8455 digger. No fancy unique parts, just a lot of pneumatics.

I told my wife earlier that part of my retirement plan is to get all the Technics lego out of the attic and start building again. I've got a vast amount of it from when my boy was younger and Lego was cheap. Lots of the power functions kits, which were great for all sorts of things.

need to go grab some food from the supermarket in a bit, started work at 06:30 , just finshing, need to do another hour in a bit,

I have such a thrilling life at the moment

I didn't manage to avoid the flu this year, Friday night and Saturday were not nice - fever/ high temperature and a lot of aching. At least it's out of the way before Christmas.
