Cost of Living - Shrinkflation is speeding up at an alarming rate

All relative. My local one has had a load spent modernising it. New fridges, new fruit and veg section with better layout. Maybe yours is in the queue to be revamped soon.........
Yeah, our local one in Carrickfergus, recently was renovated. It was a bugger to shop while they did it, but now that its completed, the store does look much nicer and slightly easier to navigate.

I dont know the ins and outs of it but I am pretty sure they have cheapened out on the sugar side of it, its either changed to palm sugar or corn syrup but you are right most choccie bars are digusting and expensive these days. Good thing for me though, i was in a bad habit of going to a local WH smiths and buying a bar whilst at work. Havent done that for over a year now.
Sadly, Ritter Sport is still good & I've developed an obsession for the local version of it: Talento.

Yeh, suppose it depends where you shop.

My Aldi had a recent refit, so everything is brand new.

The queues in our local Lidl drove me nuts. Luckily they've just introduced a self checkout area which is normally much quieter. And you're not subject to the stress of packing as they lob everything at you after scanning as quickly as possible to pack up!

The Waitrose xmas series - because they aren't selling whole turkeys they can't portray that in their xmas advert, chicken nuggets next year,
rather, some sausagemeat/turkey/bacon combo.

Hope they are confident on their market demographic, defintely not the traditional nostalgic Oasis loving generation, even if 80s bands probably more in tune with economy.

Just bought bag of frozen chips, only 1.5kg bag. And some are 600g whats the point of that

Weren't bags of frozen chips something like 4kg or something?

I try and get mine from Costco where possible, they have the massive bags that take up a whole freezer drawerby themselves and cheaper per weight.

Just make your own, costs pennies. Literally cut a couple of potatoes, spray with oil, sprinkle with salt and chuck in the oven for 30 minutes.
I'll never buy another bag of frozen chips.

I've done that before. I like thin crispy french fries and the home made ones taste way better than store bought. The only issue is time. Takes way too long to get there, the homemade ones take longer in the oven.

Time and convenience is a premium we're all being over-charged for these days. It's difficult to find time when doing everything oneself, the cheaper way. Like those robot vacuums, pay for something to hoover up for you.

Nostradamus hat on:
"Chocolate" has become so un-chocolate-like that there's no point buying it. Demand will fall to the point of it not being worth it for supermarkets to stock. There'll be no chocolate aisle in 10 years time.
I wouldnt be so sure. The more they fill it with crap the more people seem to crave it..

A lot of people buy chocolate just for a sugary hit......not really for the chocolate per se. So the fact it barely has any in, but it's loaded with sugar and other crap, still hits the mark.

I've become a bit more into 'craft chocolate' lately, and enjoying trying differently sourced cocoa. Not cheap, but definitely worth it if you enjoy proper chocolate.

Oh really? About time. During the day they had one person on checkout, no matter what. Was silly when you had 10 people queuing in a largely empty store.

By a potato peeler and chips cutter. £50-100 initial investment but when massive bags of spuds cost just ten quid it will pay itself back within a year.
