Does the survey include questions relating to how the service is provided / licensed?
Did options include whether to roll it in to general taxation or remain a license / subscription service?
Any questions relating to not using the service and the "policing" of non-use?

I'm reminded of Yes, Minister and conscription.

Lisa Nandy has launched the BBC’s Charter Review and shied away from any attempt to fundamentally reform the BBC’s funding model. Are you surprised…

Yep as I thought. Sticking it on tax would be very unpopular and difficult legally. At least we can continue to just not pay it at least.

Eithee more and more people will cancel until it's dead, or they start funding themselves like every other channel.

I think I'm gonna cancel mine. Another £44 quarterly payment out today and every time I think to myself I barely watch it what's the point.

Can I just cancel the DD or do I have to phone up and go through their questionnaire?

You can phone up and cancel, or even do it online. This will probably stop any nasty letters for about a year (not guaranteed though). But legally speaking you don't need to inform them and can just cancel your DD. That second option will result in lots of threatening letters (which means nothing - just ignore them) and, although unlikely, a possible sales person labelled as an enforcement officer turning up on your doorstep. You can just close the door on them though and do not need to answer any questions or let them in.

Be aware that you do need a licence if you watch any live TV (not just BBC) or watch iPlayer (except for S4C content on there)..

Okay Mr survey police. I did it as thoroughly as I felt I needed to, a lot of the questions weren't even relevant to me so we're just "no opinion"

I did it. Didn't really give much opportunity to voice "the BBC isn't relevant to me, I don't value it because".

The questions were actually quite complex for the general population. And quite a lot of questions I bet most wouldn't even know about.

Felt it was a poor survey for the general Public.

What do you watch, what would you like to watch. There wasn't much of this.

I can't do it online it seems I have to call. Tempted to just cancel DD.
Ah yes, I seem to recall someone previously mentioned they removed the option to do it online (I assume it's to add friction so people can't be bothered to cancel as they have recently had record numbers do just that).

That must be very recent, as I cancelled ours online a couple of weeks ago. We got a refund of around £78. We've not watched TV in almost 2 years, it's one of those things we left running just because. The only content in our house is Netflix, Jellyfin and ITVX - we have no aerial, no IPTV, and no cable or Sky. Annoyingly, the form insisted we provide a date we 'plan to watch live TV again'. I set it to some time in the 2100s as it was a mandatory question, as though someone couldn't possibly *not* come back to live TV. The form kindly auto-magically changed this to next year and wouldn't accept any other answer. That made me all the more determined just to ignore them in future and not bother re-declaring. That's just malicious.

Shouldn't be allowed. It's a service you can opt out of. You have a choice to use. It's intimidating for vulnerable people.

Will just be more people cancelling the DD. But I guess some people probably cave in
