Seen an aoc ultra wide for £289 cant post a link get me in trouble would mean getting rid of my 2 monitor setup 1 1440 and other 1080 both 27 inch

Powered by a 9070xt and a 9800x3d

Aslong as i get a smooth 60 to 120fps in games ill be happy

edge lit...urgh

I would avoid edge lit LCD now, the older ones I've had were CCFL type, and the first edge lit was noticeable, I've one with with FALD type and much more even backlight

You can get an 34" ultrawide for £200 the MSI MAG 346CQ.

Not sure How good it is compared to more modern monitors but does seem ok for the price.

Va panels have limited viewings angles so be aware .

Another budget option below

curved do help

I disagree with "limited viewing angles" though it's not like the edges change so much you throw the monitor away, probably only those that do photoshop colour correction notice it. I've had two VA panels and edges look fine, if I really try and tell there is some slight difference in colour phase but it's nothing to worry about.

The biggest downside of VA panels, especially compared to IPS and OLED displays, is their narrow viewing angles. This means the image washes out and loses accuracy when viewed from the sides, or if you sit close to the screen and you're looking at the edges. As a solution to this, many VA monitors are curved to bring the edges closer to you, so you see a more consistent image across the display compared to a flat monitor. That said, this only helps if you're sitting in front of the display, and combined with the narrow overall viewing angles, these displays are bad choices for multi-monitor setups or sharing your screen with others.

Narrower, not narrow. I'd say it's not really a problem, it's not like soon as you off center it's like a TN panel that goes dark or off colour.

IPS have their own issues as well.

Feel free to argue with the staff over at RT'ings over their wording, I happen to agree with it personally.

IPS absolutely have issues, it's hardly relevant to the statement that VA panels can have poor viewing angles.

Is it a secret as to which?

Got the AOC CU34G4 picked it up last night ther was an oled version for 600 on display aswell but to be honest looking at it think it would give me a headache after a while picture was nice but bright as hell

Got it setup and bought tarkov aswell runs well and looks good

I've been using Ultrawaide for quite a while now and can't see myself going back to a standard size screen.

I do get the odd temptation every now and again to get a 32" 4K monitor but that also means a beefier GPU so would be a big jump in cost.

UW is the perfect balance.

Ultrawide OLED is amazing. Some games I like to kick back on sofa and play on my big screen tv, but for FPS the ultrawide is sensational. Just so much more immersive.

I am an early adopter of ultrawide, stuck with for years, I can’t go back to a dual monitor setup.

Started with the LG 29” inch ultrawide monitor.

I still don't believe ultrawide has been done correctly in terms of size and format but still once you go ultrawide going back to normal monitor is like near impossible. I love my Samsung G57 odyssey. Gaming experience is just superior to normal flat monitors.

Some games are better suited for TV, but some games just hit different in ultrawide like FPS games, also its much better for coding for me. It just makes my life so much easier and this was the primary reason I bought it, downside is the beefy GPU needed to run the screens.

Conversely I much prefer standard width, after trying several ultrawides and having one as a secondary monitor for awhile. IMO it is very much a personal preference and not for everyone and if possible people should try before they buy.

Personally after trying a lot of monitors over the years I always come back to 27-28" 16:9 1440p for gaming and 16:10 1600p for productivity - though a wider aspect ratio does have some benefits for coding.
