Interestingly there is a feature developing which could bring light snow to the south of the UK on the evening of the 25th but latest model updates show it further south than the UK and so unlikely to come to anything though still a small chance of it developing over the south.

No snow, but showing sunny spells over Christmas on forecast. At least it'll be dry and bright.

It is going to be cold and dry here, with quite high wind gusts according to the latest forecasts.
A potential for gales on the south coast, which is nice.

Late 2nd through to 6th Jan looking potential for light snow UK wide (not necessary everywhere but could be almost anywhere) as things stand. BBC just showing sleet for us though

I'd like to see a stronger trend towards the rinse and repeat of blocking, the signal is there but need to see that increase in the coming days if we're going to see something more prolonged / sustained.

As it stands though. A cold spell now looks highly likely 31st Dec - 7th January, thereafter confidence significantly drops in the evolution.

Small disturbances likely to develop at short notice in a very unstable airflow bringing potential for longer spells of snow.

Azores low could still be a spoiler, but this remains a low likelihood looking at ensemble suites etc, but not off the table.

Radio 4 weather forecast just now signalled much colder weather for start of 2026 with risk of snow.

Started to feel the cold lately in rotherham. I'm just going to assume we're going to be punished in Jan with harsher weather.

On the plus side, record snowfall in Alberta in Canada, 504cms (5m) in the month of December in some places and temperatures as low as -25 C (feeling like -38 C with windchill) , hasnt stopped people from walking their dog or going out and about but then the locals are far better adapted for such things than folk in the UK, who shut up shop at -3

That's the first day back to work for me and a lot of people, so if it does snow, that's bound to cause issues.

No snow on the 4th please, I've a 320 mile drive across the country, Mid Wales coast to the channel tunnel....snow needs to stay in Scotland
