Turkey Dental Clinics!

I have a good friend who went to Turkey for a full set of implants about a year ago, He had to go twice eight weeks apart. And said it was a great experience.
He said the Dental hospital was brand new and spotless. said everyone was very professional and he had no problems at all.
They booked him into a 5 star hotel next to the hospital they had an arrangement with so the hotel staff knew to give him soft foods and drinks in his room after the surgery's.

I had an implant (premolar, next to right incisor) over two decades ago, cost 1500 quid in the UK. It was not fun and around 8 months to complete.

Visit 1. Knocked out, old stump removed, Drilled in to gob / jaw and inserted the anchor pin, filled with "cow bone goop" or somesuch and stitched up. Face looked like a punch bag for 5 days.
Visit 2. Returned 10 days later to get the stitches removed and checked.
Endured 8 months with an unsightly gap in gob while the bone / anchor point repaired.
Visit 3. Carved out a hole, removed anchor cap and screwed in the implant.

No idea if the process is now different or accelerated but I would not chance it if the difference is a few k.

Yeah its brutal, someone in my family has it done last year in the UK and they looked like they had been beaten up. They would never do it again.

Flying back and forth from Manchester Airport, I always wondered whether it must be a nightmare being stuck behind a flight load of people who’ve just landed from Turkey while they’re trying to go through the e-border gates, because none of them look like the photo that was taken on the way out.

YouTube advert a couple of weeks ago. This is what YouTube thinks I look like:

We are seeing friends on 3rd Jan - they have been looking at Turkey teeth implants as he was quoted nearly 10k for 4 implants in the UK.

I believe the company flew to the UK, did some pre checks/reviews on 8-10 potential patients and then quoted them from there.... I'll check with him what he thought and costs etc - obviously can't report back till after 3rd.

Edit - not quite the same thing but I know a client who had hair implants done in Turkey - couldn't be more pleased and impressed with the outcome.... 1/3 of the cost of doing it here and he said it was excellent from start to finish.

I remember a conversation with my dentist, he said if anyone under his care ever received treatment abroad and it needed attention, he would refuse to treat it, and tell the person to go back to where they had it done.

Is that due to bitterness for not paying the obscene UK prices? Because it sounds like they're cutting off their nose to spite their face as they surely want the custom...

He said he wouldn't want to fix another dentist's shoddy work.

Can't argue with that I suppose.

Who else saw the title and thought it was about Turkeys (the bird) getting their teeth fixed… and said Turkeys don’t have teeth.

How are these Turkish dentists doing complete implants in a single visit? Or are there multiple and how long between each visit? The 8 month gap between implant anchor and implant was imperative to allow the bone to regrow / repair etc.

Go to a recommended clinic and do it if you want

Some good recommendations here.

It's not for me personally but if you got the wonga why wait?
It'll be such a confidence boost if done right...

I did a couple of implants a couple of years ago at a Brighton dental implant clinic and it was much cheaper than any of my local dentists. I ended up paying £2.5k for 2 implants whilst my local dentist were charging the same price for just 1.

Dentists in the UK generally aren't short of work. By touching implant work done by other people (even done in the UK, but especially done in other countries where regulations might be less strict) they potentially open themselves up to liability if you have problems in the future, unless you get a sympathetic one it seems the benefits don't outweigh the risks for them. Add that to the fact that there's literally hundreds of variations of implants / abutment types they might not even have compatible kit to touch them even if they wanted to.

I considered going to Turkey but in the end decided against it.

I've had emergency dental treatment done in Vietnam to a decent standard.

... but I don't think I'd willingly chance something going wrong with surgery abroad. Lots of success stories it seems but... yeah, hard pass from me.

No risk no reward I guess. But the risk is your health and the financial liabilities associated with it.
