Just installed a new Corsair CPU cooler and fans, connected all up as per instructions and powered up my pc but….no power

Any ideas or where to start looking?

is the power switched on?
have you connected something wrongly?
(did you inadvertently damage something during the swap?)

post a pic of the interior, rear and interior cable-side of the computer
doing mid-air diagnosis on "a computer won't switch on" isn't helpful for you nor anyone else trying to help
could be 99 problems (but a ***** ain't one  )

Most obvious reason would be disconnecting power cables that were in the way when you did the cooler.

Will get some pics on. Sorry really quick post before I popped out

As far I know all connected correctly and hooked up the icue link to a pci cable to a socket on the psu

I’ll check the basics when I’m back but I did wonder if I bent a pin on the cpu socket when I took the cpu off to clean the old thermal paste off as one looked different to the rest when I reseated it

Normally if there's an issue with the pins you get fans/lights, but a black screen/no signal, or you can still boot, but lose a memory channel.

If there's no life at all, no lights, no fans, no nothing, then that's probably a power cable/power connector problem. Worth checking the front panel didn't get dislodged too, with those tiny pins on the on/off switch.

Checked all the connections and can’t see anything missing. Everything I pulled out from the old fans was on one daisy chain with sata power cable connected to the psu so no risk of that cutting power to anything else

Power switch connections are in firmly

No lights on mobo either

Going to remove the cooler just to check the connections hidden behind it as a next step

Everything else on the wall socket is working too so it’s just the pc and have tried another plug with no change

Disconnected the icue link hub via pcie and tried, nothing

Tried disconnecting other items and removing memory with no joy either

It’s getting late in the day so ordered a new psu for AM delivery tomorrow. Will try that as next step, if that powers it up happy days. If not, back to drawing board

So tried a new PSU, connected everything up and no response still

I’ve tried the paper clip test on the psu that I read about this morning and the psu turns on with power and the fan spins.

Connections for the case power button are connected as they were when working and checked connected firmly

Some further messing about, managed to get power. Nothing different except for reseating the CPU for about the tenth time lol

I now get power, the motherboard LEDs light up and go through until stuck white on vga and green on boot

Have connected to a monitor and no output to display

What is the complete spec of your PC?

Can you use onboard graphics instead of whatever GPU you have? (if your CPU is capable)

Could do with some pics, especially the CPU socket.

Maybe try reseating GPU, RAM and SSD/M.2 drive.

Corsair 4000D Case
Asus B650-Plus WIFI
Ryzen 7 7800X 3D
Corsair RM750e
WD Black 2TB
Palit RTX 5080
TeamGroup 64GB DDR5 PC5-48000

All worked prior to me swapping out the fans to Corsair RX120 and Titan 240 RX cooler
Swapped out PSU to Corsair RM1000x as part of fault finding the issues

Tried reseating the RAM, GPU and M2

Motherboard has onboard but disabled it in the bios

Pics to follow
